Okay, I am looking into getting a Mac Notebook, but I don't really know much about mac products, so I thought I should ask here, on what are some good, affordable mac notebooks.

I am really only getting it so I can browse the internet, and write stories, so I am not really looking for one of those 900 dollar ones haha, I just need one that is good, reliable, and affordable on a 100-400$ budget.

I'll be honest, if you are just using it to go online and write stories you don't need a mac. You can easily buy a PC that will do that for like 100$, like one of those really small portable ones. But honestly you will be paying way more for a mac for things you just won't use. I would just wait for windows 7 to come out and buy yourself any old laptop that looks neat. Anything will work with internet and stories. Download OpenOffice.org for your PC and you don't even need to buy ms office.

Just so you know, I have a Mac so I am not just some PC fanboy. It's just I have a mac for specific reasons that make it practical, like movie design and coding, as well as design and shit. But to be honest just get a cheap PC, you will be much better off. You won't use the mac to any of it's potential, waste of your money bro. If you need more specific help I am always around to help you pick out the laptop you want. Hit me up on MSN or AIM or whatever.

Ugh, I didn't put some things in there, I want one for editing movies as well, and I am looking into AS3, so I can start making flash games.

Another reason, is because I am tired of PC's, I have had 5 different PC's, and Windows is just getting on my nerves lately... (4 Blue Screens of death in one week, and not a single virus found with 3 different virus scanners.)

Well, you won't be able to buy one new for that kind of money, they start to retail at like.. 1100 dollars plus for the most basic model. Chances are you won't be able to buy a refurbished macbook from apple for that kind of money - the apple site lists a refurbished model at $999.

My recommendation if you absolutely *have* to have a macbook for under $400 dollars - try and either buy, or get your hands on several broken macbooks and then frankenstein a working one from the multiples that are totally broken.

Otherwise, if you really want a laptop for $400, buy a PC laptop - Dell has some nice models for cheap, and you can buy them new in that price range.

Lol he has an on and off relationship with some sort of tech geek country girl with an accent who is into feminist dominatrix type stuff. Makes less sense the more you think about it.

Update your graphics drivers, if that's not the case it's a hardware failure.

I want one for editing movies

The latest Mac does have a beautiful Movie Editing program, but it probably is not the best. If you do a quick search on the net you'll probably find a reliable one that does not require you to spend money on a whole computer.

Wrong wrong wrong, coming to conclusions like that is why stupid people spend a lot of money fixing a computer that isn't broken.

Ummm probably not the best? Is that a joke? Even my mac hating friends who would burn a mac on site know the only legitimate reason to have a mac is for movie editing or media design, because movie editing is completely amazing on Mac compared to PC and even they agree. But that is for real movie editing. The type of work that he is looking into can be easily done on PC without too much trouble.

Ugh, my laptop (XP) has been infected by Security Tool, I got rid of it and an hour later it came back. I did a system restore, hope that is enough...

AND my other computer (vista) has been infected by Total Security and I am having no luck with getting rid of it.

Okay, after giving Sasha 52$ and half of my next paycheck, she Reformatted it, and everything, and after awhile, we turned it back on, but the second we did, we got a BSOD.

After she took the thing apart, and looked at the hardware, she said the Motherboard fried or something, and that there was something wrong with it's hard drive. Any Ideas on how to fix this? She said she would do it, but I ain't got the scratch (500 dollars) to pay her to fix it.

Open up the case for you computer. There, you should see a button battery. Take it out for 5 whole minutes and them put it back in. That will clear the CMOS and restore your board to factory settings. Hopefully, that will fix it.

This is for the motherboard btw.. hopefully i helped.

1. Unplug the computer and let it sit unplugged for 24 hours.

2. It may be the power supply that was affected, you may want to take it in for diagnostics. The Motherboard can be damaged without it affecting the Hard Drive so that you could put that hard Drive into a new computer (if necessary).

That was STILL for the mother board. Use option unplug it first, then the one about diagnostics, and then the last one i first posted. I'm now racking my brain on ideas to fix a harddrive, say, do you know where the problem is?

Not really no, and Sasha refuses to help, unless I pay her, so I can't really ask her 'bout that.

And here, If you still can't fix it, best let Sasha fix it.
