For those of you not living under a rock, you're aware that the GTA series s famous for starting some of the biggest controversies over video games. While the original 2 entries in the series were able to escape with a "T" rating, the rest have been labeled "M". With the addition of new modes such as "Drunk Driving", and the lack of an official rating from the ESRB, there is some talk that GTA IV will recieve a "AO" rating.
It takes alot to get an AO rating, and Rockstar games knows that this would kill sales, so they would do what they could to tone the game down if threatened with an AO... it will be M for sure
Yeah that's the same thing I think would happen to GTA because if they make it less violent and less "bad" then it'll be less cooler and not as fun. I know that the ESRB is just looking out for the people playing the games, but sometimes I wish that games didn't need to have a rating and you can just play any game you want as long as you don't go psycho with it and actually start killing people.
I believe if a person is mature enough, they can play the game and not be affected by it. But alot of foolish kids think the game is 'so cool', they go out and try and so some of the things portrayed in the game, and get arrested (if not killing/injuring someone in the process). And don't tell me that is a load of crap, because it happens everyday, and most people don't just come up with the idea of doing some of those horrible things on their own.
ok heres my input It is NOT to violent, people are just getting scared that kids will get ideas from games like killing, prostitution, drinking, and doing illegal ****! Look, kids are god****** smart enough now a days to separate ******* fiction to real life! Plus, the ESBR is only made up of 5 god***** people! There just a bunch of priks with sticks up there *****!
You extremely underestimate our society, David858. Don't believe me? Go watch the news. Just a little bit ago, a bunch of third graders were caught in a plot trying to kill their teacher; this story was just on the news. Every day kids (and the ages of these kids keeps getting younger and younger) do stupid things that they would not have done fifty years ago. Although the reasons may vary, many times it is from other idiotic punks telling them to do foolish things, and those punks probably got their ideas from games just like GTA.
sting. These kids are in speical education classes. They have mental disabilities. You have to think, do the parents really watch them? I'm just saying, kids these days can separate fiction to real life! I think kids these days are geting ideas from rap artistes that "sing" about killing, sex, and other things.
I'll throw you a bone there, rappers are definetly influencing kids these days. The sad part is rappers like 50 Cent are actually very intelligent, and don't walk around with their pants hanging down low and talking smack. Too bad teens think it is 'cool', so they go around acting like idiots.
ok now im beging to agree here. today, some kid walks over to me and my girl friend, and says "have you tated that **** yet?" I asked " Where the hell did you here that"? He says " fity Cent"
