Halloween is fast approaching, and it is time for a new armatar contest! You can submit your own original armatars to this thread following the theme of Halloween. If it meets our quality standards, I will add it to the 1AP armatar section for all members to use! You can reference previous contests for a better idea of what this is all about here.
There are some guidelines, and unless your entry follows these set of rules it will not be accepted.
GUIDELINES: 1. Must be appropriate. Cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Try to keep it clean! 2. The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension. 3. Must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to armatar size. A few suggestions about this: - Sometimes simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So just keep in mind what the final size will be. - If you are able to do vector, that can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this probably isn't a big issue. 4. Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other piece of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% original. 5. Must be Halloween themed.
Good luck! I look forward to seeing some creative new Halloween armatar ideas!
Silhouettes often do not have detail.. the point is that they are an outline. It was creative, and different from what other people have been doing. I don't see what is wrong with that.
Not all armatars can be accepted, and it clearly states in the rules of the contest that not all armatars will be chosen.
Its just that ever single time we have this contest, half the people end up complaining that they didn't get in. And it makes it a lot less fun when people get grouchy that all of them aren't uploaded. And yet each time people want the contest to come back. But then criticize other armatars and get upset over the whole thing. If people can't graciously lose, and continue to act immature about it, there won't be anymore armatar contests. We don't need a few rotten apples spoiling the bunch here.
Sobeit. Why not have all armatars submitted as long as they are appropriate. It would add a lot of variety. The only cons I can find are having to download a bunch or armatars and making the site less attractive, but I don't really see how the latter is really a concern.
I don't think the best strategy to get yours in, is by putting people down and being unfairly critical of their armatars.
First of all, I never put anyone down. Saying something is "oorly drawn" is just stating a fact. And I'm not upset that mine didn't get accepted. It's just weird that something so simple made it at all.
It was creative....
I understand beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I see no creativity in a two-tone picture, let alone the fact that the two colors are orange and black. Just because it's a halloween contest doesn't mean you have to use stereotypical halloween colors.
...But then criticize other armatars and get upset over the whole thing. If people can't graciously lose, and continue to act immature about it, there won't be anymore armatar contests. We don't need a few rotten apples spoiling the bunch here.
I love when people criticize my work. It lets me know what I should fix to improve and make my work better. If people can't take criticism, especially on an internet forum where peoples' opinions should matter the least, they need to grow up. I have no problem losing. There are plenty of armatars submitted that are better than mine. But you shouldn't spoon feed the people that make under-par armatars by letting theirs make the cut.
hmm Well don't forget to consider the range of users on this site, I appreciate any art for what its worth just because one doesn't compare to another has no real value to me unless its the same user. Then I like to criticize that this one was better the this one you made...
As a non-partisan in this discussion...I just want to throw it out there that I really do like the orange and black wolf! The only reason I didn't choose to use it is because I wanted a female Armatar. Some of us actually like simple artwork. Just because something is only two toned or a mere silhouette doesn't mean it is better or worse than a more complex picture. Just my 2 cents...
What a discussion over a thread thats supposed to be fun and artistic >.<, i won't add to it in fear of offending someone... Thanks for the compliments. I realised that brighter colors look bolder and a lot tider so I decided to improve on my jack-0-lantern/moon work:

Can the armatar be updated please? I'd be so great if I could wear the improved version ^.^, feel free to comment on how I could make it better still!
I agree. But the person could've at least cleaned it up, made the lines less etch-y. That's the only reason I'm frustrated.
Well, sometimes it is frustrating to enter art in contests. I cannot quite remember yours, but maybe do something original for the theme (since most are doing witches and Jack'o'lanterns and all that, it might be easier to get in if you make something that is original and fitting. Idk. It is just for the fun of it, and it should really be the most important.
Wow good armater guys sorry don't have one. Love the one I have.
He seems popular.
I am still trying to figure out how or if I should try and halloweenify the other mods, but idk. I already got three uploaded, better keep my vector to myself > >
