They still have ads when you are on the homepage. If you want to continue playing games on this site, then be happy that those ads are there. They keep AG going.

Just checked Krin too: It seems that all author's games pages also have the ads on still. Maybe they bargained.
I hope they get another background ad, not the Dungeon Fighter one because I looked at that enough, but a cool one nonetheless.
It doesn't matter if it's cool, what matters is that AG is making money from it: That way, the site will stay a little longer on the internet. Who knows, maybe AG was in a financial problem and this saved their life.
Though I have to agree that the ad is a bit cool...
Why did AG remove the previous background?
It looks like AG simply sacrificed their blue background to make some money to keep the site running. Anyway, it isn't on all the AG pages, just the main page and authors games page.
