Hey it's the Dr. I know I post strange things but her is a serious topic the AG community should talk about.

Why do so many Americans care about gay people getting married? Who cares if two dudes or chicks want be married and do each other every night. Gay people being married will not affect you. These christians scream that gays are evil and go against them, but the bible says to love everyone. Christians don't want to listen or believe any thing that is not in their bible. This is why I don't go to church any more. Also this teaching kids in schools about gays is no big deal, most kids when they are like 8 or 9 know what gays are. So in conclusion you are a asshole if you say gays are bad, evil, sinners, and so on...

Hey if dudes what to be gay that just leaves more girls for me :]

Freedom gives you right to go against people. On Christians view, if everyone was gay the human race would go extinct.

That's one reason why they b1tch about gays, and there's plenty of more.

Go to Denmark.
During this year's Gay Pride parade there was Christian priest blessing gay couples. Because we are cool like that.

Funnily enough it seems to be a rather American problem (as you stated), but then again, many Americans seem to get offended by anything(at the ones that shout loud enough for the rest of the world to notice).

Hey it's the Dr. I know I post strange things but her is a serious topic the AG community should talk about.

Yes this is a good topic. I look forward to the debate on this.

Starting off it has to be realized not every Christian holds this view on homosexuality. If you are a Chrsitian and don't think it's wrong for any reason I don't think this Dr. was talking about you.

Freedom gives you right to go against people. On Christians view, if everyone was gay the human race would go extinct.

This is pretty weak considering not everybody is gay, and not everybody is going to be gay.

That's one reason why they b1tch about gays, and there's plenty of more.

Now as for why a Christian would hold the belief that preforming homosexual acts are wrong, let's start with what the Bible has to say about homosexuality. From the King James version btw.

Leviticus 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Romans 1:26-27
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

So, to many it's clear. According to the Bible God is against homosexuality.

I have to ask, does sex really play such a huge role in a truly loving relationship that if it's between two people of the same sex it becomes evil? If you were looking for a long term commitment is how good the person is in bed really the number one thing you look for, or is it things like there personality, do I want to share my life with this person, can you commit and have devotion to each other. Don't you find these things far more important? So why are all these things thrown out the window when it's two people of the same sex? Just because the Bible says it's wrong? I find it interesting how children can have an easier time understanding the concepts of marriage then some adults do.
Sesame Street: Grover discusses What Is Marriage?

Another thing that get's brought up a lot is that homosexuality is unnatural. There's plenty of evidence contradicting this. As I have stated in a previous topic there are plenty of examples of homosexuality accruing in nature. Close to 1500 different species of animals have been observed demonstrating homosexual behavior. And really when you think about it how can anything really be considered unnatural?
Homosexuality: Unnatural?

Some will argue it's all about the children and raising children and gay couples can't have children of there own. Does this mean a heterosexual couple unable to have children for what ever reason also should fall under this same category of it being wrong, and if not then why?
Some of the arguments will follow...

Gays and lesbians are not capable of parenting as someone heterosexual. usually because not having a parent of each gender will have negative effects on the children. Does this mean we should also prevent single parents from being able to be parents as well, because one gender is missing from the home?

Children raised by gay or lesbian parents will be more likely to grow up gay themselves. This is wrong, it has been proven nurture does not play a roll in weather a child turns out gay or not.
National Geographic explains the biology of homosexuality

Gays and lesbians are more likely to molest children. (you know like priests with alter boys) This is simply ridiculous. A case study was done showing 74% of pedophiles were heterosexual men. So I guess by this logic no heterosexual males should be parents, least of little girls.

The children will be harassed and teased by other children because they have gay parents. (I wonder where these children are learning to behave this way towards same sex couples)

So how do gay couples do with children?

But what do the kids think?
Me and My Gay Parents

And see these three maladjusted children with LESBIAN parents.
Convesations with CHILDREN OF GAY PARENTS

"God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." You call it evil or an abomination. Well using this bit of the Bible then we can also say God didn't create us with the knowledge of good and evil so why are you going against God and concerning yourself with matters of good and evil?

Finally most likely the most honest answer "We don't like F*gs!" Okay, bigot...

I don't care about gays in general. I won't support their agenda, but I still love them. I have a really good friend that's gay. I don't care who's doing who and where.

I won't support their agenda,

You mean this agenda?

"Homosexual agenda (or gay agenda) is a phrase used by some social conservatives to refer to advocacy of cultural acceptance and normalization of non-heterosexual orientations and relationships."

These christians scream that gays are evil and go against them

First of all, this a common misconception that most people seem to believe for some reason. Probably you have uninformed Christians running around sayings these types of things.

But really the Christian view is that the people who are gay/lesbian aren't bad, just the gay/lesbian act is. So its not that the person is horrible or evil, just the act that is sinful.

Christians don't want to listen or believe any thing that is not in their bible.

Also not true. Christian belief not only comes from the Bible, but from other sources as well, just to name a few, The Magisterium, Sacred Tradition. Also, its not like Christians strictly follow the bible to the letter, the bible can be interpreted more than how it is literally stated.

On Christians view, if everyone was gay the human race would go extinct.

Also not true (where are you people getting these ideas?) Any chance you could provide me with a source as to where you got this crazy assumption?

I have to ask, does sex really play such a huge role in a truly loving relationship that if it's between two people of the same sex it becomes evil?

I think you are misinterpreting the point that those passages are making. Christians view sex as something that is sacred and not something that should be belittled or defiled into an act that is to be played around with. Sex is something special that should be shared with your life partner and not just with anyone. In the Catholic belief, sex is something to be enjoyed with your husband/wife but it is also for reproduction. The point about gay/lesbian sex being wrong is that it becomes solely an act of pleasure when it is meant for so much more.

Close to 1500 different species of animals have been observed demonstrating homosexual behavior

So you are alright with saying we are on the same level as every other animal out there? Lets eat off the ground and live outside while we are at it.

Does this mean we should also prevent single parents from being able to be parents as well, because one gender is missing from the home?

No, it doesn't mean that. In my opinion, each gender offers a different aspect to the parenting process of the child considering a Male and a Female are radically different. Usually parents that are single are victims of a divorce or the death of a parent, meaning that the kid probably grew up with both parents in the first place, whereas with a Gay/lesbian couple that opposite gender parent was never there in the first place.

The whole hate the sin not the sinner concept doesn't work. If they do bad things, then they themselves must be bad.

I'm sure the Christians you refer to as misinformed believe they are the informed ones while those who don't hold the same belief are the misinformed Christians, funny how belief works that way.

But really the Christian view is that the people who are gay/lesbian aren't bad, just the gay/lesbian act is. So its not that the person is horrible or evil, just the act that is sinful.

What's so sinful of two people who love each other?

Also not true. Christian belief not only comes from the Bible, but from other sources as well, just to name a few, The Magisterium, Sacred Tradition.

The Magisterium?
-The Magisterium consists of only all the infallible teachings of the Church, "Wherefore, by divine and Catholic faith all those things are to be believed which are contained in the word of God as found in Scripture and tradition, and which are proposed by the Church as matters to be believed as divinely revealed, whether by her solemn judgment or in her ordinary and universal Magisterium."

Oh yeah, I see how this has nothing to do with the Bible.

"The Infallibility of the Church is the belief that the Holy Spirit will not allow the Church to err in its belief or teaching under certain circumstances."

LOL...

Sacred Tradition?
"In the theology of these churches, Sacred Scripture, is the written part of this larger tradition, recording (albeit sometimes through the work of individual authors) the community's experience of God or more specifically of Jesus Christ. Hence the Bible must be interpreted within the context of Sacred Tradition and within the community of the church."

Yum I love me some cherry picking...

The Magisterium has a role in deciding authoritatively which truths are a part of Sacred Tradition. However, the main means of transmission of the teachings of Tradition is the lives of all those who live according to the Way of life handed down from the time of Christ and the Apostles.

Again nothing to do with the Bible.

I think you are misinterpreting the point that those passages are making.

I wasn't interpreting the passages in any way. I was simply stating that while not all but many Christians believe homosexuality to be wrong and where in the Bible these beliefs are derived from.

Christians view sex as something that is sacred and not something that should be belittled or defiled into an act that is to be played around with.

Okay if that works for you. Is it right for those who believe this to force those belief on others?

Sex is something special that should be shared with your life partner and not just with anyone.

I'm sure there are plenty of homosexual couples who would agree with you here, and would love to do this if they didn't keep having people butting into there person lives telling them it's wrong.

In the Catholic belief, sex is something to be enjoyed with your husband/wife but it is also for reproduction. The point about gay/lesbian sex being wrong is that it becomes solely an act of pleasure when it is meant for so much more.

So your saying to people who love each other shouldn't physically express that love if they are of the same sex?

Really I covered this one.
So a heterosexual couple unable to have children having sex is wrong and sinful?

So you are alright with saying we are on the same level as every other animal out there? Lets eat off the ground and live outside while we are at it.

On argument that often come up is homosexuality is unnatural. I was clearly demonstrating that this is false.

Should we be compared to animals? Yes because we are animals. But I won't go into that to deep if your interested in that debate look up "Are Humans Animals" I think it's a few pages back by now.

As for your argument, we are not the only species that doesn't eat of the ground and live in shelters so this argument is moot.

There are plenty of single parents where the children were born and the mother died giving birth or had a parent die very shortly after birth. Many adopted children have experience with there biological parents. So this argument stands. your reply is nothing more then an attempt to justify hypocrisy.

I feel that the people who are saying that gays are evil(not necessarily "Christians((be more specific))&quot are just not ready for change. Americans are like this because we feel we are the best people in the world(not all of us, just the majority). We feel like we're perfect right now, and people think that if anything changes then our whole system will go down the drain, which really isn't good anyway.
Overall, I think gays and lesbians should be allowed to do what they feel, think, and know in their heart is right for them. Again, the bible says to love your neighbor as you would love yourself. The Bible also says that God loves sinners, even though they have done bad. So if God loves someone, you should love someone. Everyone. The Bible says God loves everyone.
That's why I am now an atheist.
