I do not feel very comfortable around homosexual people, I feel like there out to get my bum haha. I really dont understand why i feel like this, whenever i spot a homo i stay as far away as i can. I feel homophobia is just a natural reaction to something you dont like, for example snakes or spiders its just a phobia. I think that this phobia will never go away in alot of people, just because its natural. Although many people over come their phobias. What do ou all think of homophobia or phobias at all?

Do you really honestly believe you can just choose between being gay and being straight? 'Cause then you might just be a bisexual in denial..

I live in a really hickish town.Anyways we had a gay kid transfer in once. He was beat up a few days later after he came in. Sad? No not really he wouldnt stop popping off to everyone, saying things in a gay way, etc. So a few people jumped him on his way from school one day and kicked his ***. I got a video of it sent to my phone.

Was it you who posted the account of that other homophobic hate-crime the other time?

I like how somebody implied that several people jumping one person means that one person is a wuss. Real stroke of genius.

yes..i can be gay anytime i want

Pics or it didn't happen.

Interesting thought, despite the non-sequitur I'm going to actually take this statement seriously because I feel it's worth going through in some detail.

The current model of the pathophysiology of cancer is quite well established, but varies between types of cancer (some being more genetic than others, risk factors varying and the precipitating factors also differing). As to whether somebody 'chooses' to have cancer, therefore, actually varies quite a lot. For example, somebody who has breast cancer is less likely to have gotten it from &quotreventable risk factors" than somebody who has skin cancer because they lie around in the sun all day without sunblock...but both cases have non-preventable risk factors such as gender and skin type respectively. And note here that the model talks strictly in terms of risk, because we cannot establish an actual causative link between somebody specifically damaging a cell which then goes dysplastic and multiplies, evades cell repair mechanisms and then metastasises. Just associations.

We have nowhere near this level of detail for "homosexuality", hence the habit of simplifying it into the layman's understanding of evolutionary biology is very tempting- either you were born with it or you weren't, and if you weren't you actively had something to do with it. The temptation is all the greater because homosexuality is defined (largely) by behaviour.

Does this answer any questions? Not really. But it does point out the sheer inadequacy of today's rhetoric on such things.

I'm sorry, but you completely missed the point

He just splayed out stuff about cancer and why it's not exactly comparable to homosexuality...

I'm guessing your point to be that it develops over time.

Do you really think your born gay?
Nope, never said that, but I certainly am not able to pick what gender I am attracted to.

Because things such as sexuality are invariable factors if you claim you're born with it, or 'just a choice' otherwise. . .

People sometimes.

I used to be majorly homophobic, but now i realized how much fun it is to directly make fun of them, so i can be around them now.

Had another user who were confused by me over in the Tavern a while ago, so I'll just point you to my big post of explaining there.
Biosexual was most likely a typo of yours, but I'm now trying to figure out what that would even be...

I use to be Homophobia (still am kind of but coming around to "dont mind&quot I just thought that hanging around G.ays would make me g.ay and I want to be straight.
It's not contagious. XD
Although if you are bisexual and not fully aware of it, hanging out in a primarily homosexual group of people might sway you further to that side. But it is not contagious, and gays will in general not try to make you gay (I could imagine someone getting a huge crush and try to convince a straight that it would work, but, you know, generally that doesn't happen much).

I used to be majorly homophobic, but now i realized how much fun it is to directly make fun of them, so i can be around them now.
I laughed, but that's kind of... Sad. Of course depending on what kind of fun you're talking about, but given the wording of your post, I guess it's the mean kind.

Yeah I know but that's the whole thing about Homophobia - your scared about what they might do, even if you know that they wont.

Phobias are wonderfully irrational, aren't they?

Yes I am going to have to agree to that.

This brings up a great point. You can't help it if you're gay. You can help it if you act like a p.ussy.

Funny, I know a gay guy serving in the Royal Marines, and he's just been accepted onto the training course with the Special Boat Service, the Navy Seals of the British armed forces. I guess bing gay, he must be a pussy too.

That's as ridiculous as saying all straight people are great at fighting. Funnily enough, most of the gays I know are pretty hard as a result of the prejudice they have to put up with on a daily basis.
