Sigh. Why did this have to happen? As if we aren't in debt enough. Sure we aren't as screwed as Japan is per person thanks to when they tried to spend their way out of a Depression in the 90s but we sure are catching up to them.
I say they should scrap the ENTIRE bill, and burn it. Then write one with only about 50 pages.
I love the Republican defense:
"OMG TOO MUCH TOO READ! BIG ISH COMPLICATED! COMPLICATED ISH BAD!!!"
if you think public schools are a bad thing, then i have no confidence in any opinions of yours.
Wow...what self-respecting country DOESN'T have a public school system?
Look at how it's made private schooling. Kind of excluded everyone that doesn't have a surplus of money from going to them.
Private schools have excluded themselves by charging tremendous amounts, which are necessary due to the cost of running any self-respecting school that isn't government funded.
I won't be happy with congress until they get all the illegals out of our country. That they still haven't dealt with immigration after all these years amazes me.
What right do you have to be American? Just because you were born in America? Unless you are Aboriginal you should have no inherit right to the land you live on. Not that the Aboriginal every believe in "ownership"...
Just because it's long doesn't mean it's a good bill, it means that they have more chances to mess with it and screw it up further.
Just because it's long doesn't mean it's a BAD bill.
Should people not be rewarded for their successes?
The reward should be socially, not in monetary form.
They want to keep themselves on top, and keep the poor at the bottom.
This is the case with the rich not with the Republicans. Although they are linked =P
Studies show whatever the funder wants them to show. The reason for that is simple, money!
Reason #1 why Canada has one universally recognized government-funded "study" company. It removes most of the bias and "funders" from the equation.
No, because the people of the USA can still elect representatives into office, and can 'choose' what said representative does. SO no, we are not a communist country.
You seem to equate communism to a lack of democracy...interesting...
Democracy can exist in a communist state before the government dissolves. And the country would still be communist. But I still doubt you are talking about REAL communism which I assumed you were.
And by implying that this country is Communist, wouldnt that mean that Nancy Pelosi, Obama, etc, etc, are also Communist?
Complicated does equal bad. If you Democrats are going to screw something up, do it without taking 5 years and a trillion dollars. I'd say KISS works with healthcare.

You Democrats? I'm not a Democrat =P 5 years and a trillion dollars? I'm wondering where you're getting this stuff =P

Communism is a type of economic system. A nation can democratically elect officials, but have a communistic economy. Totalitarianism is probably what you're thinking of. It's a type of government that is ruled by a dictator, and often arises from a previously communist nation.

So your saying that Canadain studies only bias toward what govenment tells them to bias toward instead of anyone with money. Must be nice to know your government officials don't lie to you but all of ours south of your border make a good living lying to us. My problem is that fools keep electing the same thieves into office repeatedly. Don't care if the thief is a Dem. or Repub. Same outcome.
If you are going to implement radical reform, do you not think it is good they have gone into detail? Or would you rather it was hurried through and the end result is a crap healthcare system?
90% of it is just filler, repeating the same thing over 10 pages.
Law has to clear and restating the same things over and over again is a good way to avoid loopholes due to improper wording at the ONLY time something is stated.
Communism is very strong word like hate or love or good it can be interpreted many different ways but this bill is not Communism the definition on dictionary.com of communism is "a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party" health care is a very vital part of the nation but it is a small part of a large whole nation which of the most part is not controlled by government(which notably has more than one party). In addition other nations have passed similar bills and all in one way or another have became a better country because of it and none of them have reverted to the evils of communism.
