Lots of angry farmers are very upset over milk in Europe. As you can very well see from the picture of a man squirting the riot police fresh squeezed milk, and farmers dumping milk onto plowed fields.
Many farmers are refusing to deliver milk and it is expected to impact consumers in stores within a week. One site I read stated that up to 40% of France's dairy farmers could lose their farms soon if nothing is done. This is a huge deal as France is the world's second largest agricultural producer.
Er, exactly what are they rioting over and why would they boycot the milk, explain your position a little better, not sure if you just wanted to tell us or what.

As far as I know they are pretty pissed that the price for milk is as low as it is. They are earning almost nothing, which is a good reason to be pissed > >

Yes, but in his op he says nothing about what they are rioting about or why. Excuse me for not keeping up with milk prices in france.
Thank you freakenstein. Why are the milk prices so low? Overproduction? Also freakenstien, if they aren't going to sell it the milk will go bad withen a month or so, expecially with no place to store it, and I don't think milk kills plants or makes soil less fertile so I don't think watering your fields with it will do any harm
They are not earning almost nothing, they are losing money every day. It is way into the negative. One site said that they only get â¬.20-â¬.24 and they need â¬.40 to make it.
Seems to me the supply of milk far exceeds the demand for milk.

They are demanding subsidies (money provided for unsold goods from the government) and begging imports from foreign nations. It's all in the link, sheesh XD
Apparently the Euro symbol doesn't work. Milk can be powdered and made into cheeses, and yogurts, butter and the like, so it can have a much much longer life than regular milk.
That costs money to do, which farmers in EU have anything but. Plus, the supply of other dairy products are high as well.
So next week (according to link) they are discussing ways to help the farmers out with the dairy crisis, such as higher subsidies, lowering the supply of milk, providing free dairy to hurting nations, such and such.
Hmm...if prices are low for EU..and they want to import to other nations, maybe even U.S. ... that "could" call for lowering our milk prices too. Or the opposite, the way economics calls.
Large supplies of milk just means overall lower prices for consumers.. but if it gets as low as what EU is going through, then that could be a problem.
i just love milk. i think we should have a national milk day
