Is there a way you guys could set up the site that would allow us to basically see what games we've played and haven't tried yet? You could base it off of if you rated a game it comes up as played, and if you haven't rated it it is still in the un-played category?

I try to give every game on the site a fair shot, but find that having to open every game to find out if I have already tried it out gets annoying and time consuming?

Thanks,
CPR

Not really a big issue for most people, the only really plausible reason for this is to allowed spammers to easily see which games they haven't rated so that they can go and give an arbitrary rating for points, along with a stupid comment. I would give this idea the thumbs down.

I support the games you played, but not for the games not played. For one, there's over a thousand games on this site, and opening up the list already takes multiple pages to sift through....

So yeah, I like the concept of looking at what games you played. It could be something to add later. But of you like to look through 58 pages of games on this site, be my guest.

Well I really wouldn't think that rating new games is a bad idea, even if for points, mostly cuz I thought the idea was to get people to try new games and give their opinion on them.... Mostly because it beats going through a games comments and seeing 20-30 spam comments by the same player.

But then again I do agree that it benefits new players to the site over the ones who have been here awhile, and there are people who would go through and rate games just for the points but not giving them a fair shake....

I guess as with anything, people are going exploit a good intentioned idea.

I only exploited the bad side of the suggestion. There were two sides; one was very good, and the other would have been harmful. I thought that the link that would display the games you played was a very good idea in my opinion :-P

Just not the suggestion of the link that displayed the list of games you DIDN'T play

To be honest, I think that there will always be people wanting to do harm or spam in any which way they can, it's in their nature...

I think the idea of a 'layed-not played list' itself is not all that bad! I love to try out new games, but haven't played all the old ones yet, so for me the list would be a big help sifting through the pages of games yet to be played!

And people who want to spam, bug or exploit will eventually always find a way to do just that, sad to say...

That was my point, I knew when I suggested it that it had a bad side and a good side... but I have rated 650+ games, and I have a rule that I play them for at least 5 minutes before I offer a rating. A timer would along those lines, ie. you must play for 2 minutes before you can rate it would negate the ease in which someone could exploit the played/un-played list.

Let's just think for the theory of it. Say I am a spammer...
Would it not just be a piece of cake for me to open/start a game, let it run for a required period of time and then post my spam-comment on it?
I think spammers have the biggest computers you can imagine, so running several games at the same time would not be a problem for them...

Or am I talking 'stupid' now? I'm not a big wizz in computerworld, so forgive me if I'm talking rubbish... :S

wouldn't it be more sensible to remember what you played? I don't really see any good in this because you would generally recognize the game if you spent a few minutes just playing it.

+ you automatically know if a game is new because it comes onto the frontpage

I have rated 658 games... how in the world am I supposed to remember all of them? Granted 90% of the time I recognize a game I have already tried, but still I would like to increase my AP without exploiting, spamming, or otherwise bending the rules.

Would it not just be a piece of cake for me to open/start a game, let it run for a required period of time and then post my spam-comment on it?
Spammers are looking for the quick easy way... having to wait a few minutes defeats the purpose.

isn't 90% enough? If you want more AP then why wouldn't you exploit it with this implementation?

Because I am going to one way or another play every game on this site..or at least try to..just like in my opinion commenting more than once rarely twice on a game is alot more explicitive than actually trying out the game and giving an honest opinion about it.... I don't see how that would be exploiting... it's only exploiting if you just go and rate games without actually giving them a fair shot.

That is a good idea

just 1 problem!
Lag.

Unless AG gets a new server (which would cost a substantial amount of ca$h) we cannot live with that.

perhaps if you don't care about what game you play, you just want to play every game and give it a fair review, sort by date and start at the back.

if you dont want to go through each catagory here you are

the "all" category, start from the back, remember where you left off and vwala.

the current solution to your problem- supercoo222

hey I love this idea! And if you ask me, I feel like almost every idea suggested here is shot down by people saying that "well this is just so people can get points" but you know what? you guys are the ones coming here and posting to get more points! why not actually support an idea once in a while? and don't bother posting back to me cuz I'm not coming back here.

I totally agree with that! That's my intention as well, I love playing games and want to try them all! =D

you guys are the ones coming here and posting to get more points!

It's not just to get AP that I rate and comment on games, if I wanted that I would try to find a way to gain them as quickly as possible... I think it's useful to the game developers that they get a fair rating and comment so they can refine their thoughts on the existing games and think of new ones.

Anyway, I'm alreay using the idea presented by 'supercoo222' simply because there is no other way to do it at the moment.

AG should creat a list of a played and unplayed...AND ranked and unranked games

Showing 1-15 of 20
