Years ago, two enlightened Kiwis realised that, when it comes to health issues, men aren't particularly vigilant. I think it's true to say, that as a general rule, we'd rather walk it off, or wait til that suspicious looking lump starts to hurt before we get ourselves checked out at the doc's.

This led the aforementioned Kiwis into creating Movember. This occurs during the month of November, and consists of men growing and sculpting their moustaches, effectively becoming a walking billboard for men's health issues, specifically prostate cancer.

So, I ask of you two questions.

(1) I myself am participating in Movember along with all my workmates. The winner this year, will be the one who creates the most creative moustche. I have some ideas, but I think it would be useful if people could give feedback. And please, don't just say 'handlebars lolol11!!'. Been there, done that last year, and really it's fairly generic. Stretch your imaginations.

(2) If any of you are capable of growing moustaches, I ask you to participate with friends or family members. You can both feel good about doing something for charity, and look good with your strapping mo'.

Let the growth begin.

(I realise I'm a little late into November, but hey I've been busy fostering some serious facial hair, so give me a break!)

OK what you need to do is grow your mustache and go super long down and make it like go around the back of your head and come back around like a normal mustache. If you can't do that then that's an idea for next year.

What about beards, Firefly, can you grow them fantastically too? I got a pic with a couple different choices and that depends on if you can grow them or not..

I say grow it out really long and full. Sculpt it into a gas mask, with "tubes" of hair going over your shoulders down your back a ways, then make an apparatus on your mouth. Should be pretty challenging, considering that you have to make the shape of the apparatus to make it legible.

Very creative, but not quite feasible with a mere months growth. I appreciate the effort though.

@ Kirby, lol, that's some intense groomage.

That's precisely where my Greek genes come in handy. Please feel free to post, I'd be up for anything really.

Oriental, now we're talking! I like that suggestion a lot, I doubt any of my mates would have thought of that.

Not particularly feasible with one months growth though. That'd be a 3 monther at least by the sounds of it. Nice try though.

Mage, some of those pictures were simply breathtaking. All the same, they are too long for this competition.

Freakenstein, interesting. There are a few I'm taking into consideration, but I think I'm set on the Leonidas. Based on the colour and texture of my beard, I think it strikes a good balance between substantiality and creativity, yet being Greek it's also appropriate. Yes, taht's what I'm pretty set on. Although, do feel free to post more ideas, I won't be sculpting til the penultimate day of the month, so there's still time.

Respect.

I thought some of Mage's others were suprior, in both length and creativity.

Klingon isn't too creative though. There are lots of different variants of it to choose from.

Unfortunately this is just one of those things that hollywood screwed up, greek and roman culture demanded all men shave on a regular basis, namely when in service of the military.
