In the USA tomorrow is veterans day and you guys just say what you are going to do with your day off tomorrow, if you actually celebrate it, etc. Personally I just like the day off. What about you?

There isn't a whole month let alone 2 weeks without a holiday!

July 6th-July 20th= No holiday
I rest my case.

....Who the heck says HAPPY Veteran's Day? There's a reason there is no applause at ceremonies...

Btw for us Canadians it is Remembrance Day...

Like how you use this thread to discuss MW2.

surveys show that over half the young people in Britain don't actually know why people wear poppies, or what Rememberance Day is actually about.

I think that's a load...I just plain don't believe it.

It is taught in school isn't it? It's supposed to be the easiest question on the Social Studies test.

Q) Why do people wear poopies?

1) They like the colour red
2) Opium rox
3) Remember military history and all fallen soldiers so as it a horrific event like a World War will never occur again
4) Jesus says to

I cried a little at this.... you would have thought all thew stuff that people do round this time of year and the stuff on TV would be a clue. Sometimes I think youths deserve to be hated lol.

I thought it was because of the poem by McCrae "In Flanders Fields"

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

+ poppies are quite an easy flower to make.

I love the day because I get to honor my family members who died in all of the wars.

I had 2 great grandfathers who fought in WW2 or WW1 I can't remember. One was a medic and one was a soldier I think.
