I don't know if it is just me or what but I have noticed here lately there is a lot of spam as comments for different games. I mean not only on old games that nobody plays hardly anymore but also new games. It seems like AG might could do something about this. I know they can not possibly delete all the spam from game comments, but maybe make some more Mods or make some people where they can only delete comments, if they feel that is spam, and not have the full power, such as locking threads or moving threads and giving merits, so there is not as much spam.

Good idea, but this should be in the S&S Section.

No one cares about game comments, people just post them to earn AP.

Which is why the awesome people down at AG gave us a flag button.

maybe a solution would be that in the text box for writing a comment there could be a minimum characters/ words in a reply.

this wouldn't end spam entirely but inspire people to write more constructive comments.

I would say to amke somthing like when you post a 1 word comment on a game it will say this"Srry you need a more constructive comment"that way it would cut down spam atleast 10 percent.

It's because no one reads the rules linked to right above the comment box.

- Do not post for the sake of points... your posts will be removed if we see you posting multiple 5-7 word posts just for points.

Most "short spammy comments" are from infrequent users of the site. The trouble users are those who do it for every game. If you notice the same person posting multiple short comments for several different games (or even the same game), report it to a moderator.

maybe make some more Mods

The thing is that dealing with short spammy comments is as interesting as filing and filling paperwork. (Both of which I do. I must be a very boring person.)

A word count filter would be much more useful at this point given the sheer amount of comments that games get now as compared to last year.

Also, comments considered "Spam" might also just be one's attempt on editing their original comment.

A widely suggested idea, an 'Edit' button would be very useful in all cases of comments/posts unjustly labeled "spam".

Yes, many players do just put "Sucks" or "Great" as a comment. This is what the rating bar is for. Comments are for constructive feedback, if I am not mistaken.

Yeah this is a good idea. Kinda like Twitter but a min. limit for the comment box and the edit button is a good idea also. i know it is not possible to get every single little spam comment I just thought that I was seeing more spam than there was say 2 or 3 months ago.

Thats because you are.See most of the mods are in high school and in collage so they don't have the time. But Gantic does but 1 mod aint going to save the comment box.So with less mods around spammers think its there time to strike which it is since not many mods come on like they used 2.Thats the reson your seeing more spam.

Making a minimum character rule would be a great think, making it impossible to write simple 'good', 'great' or 'sucks', 'bad' just to earn AP.
And the game developers do not have any idea why people like/dislike the game because they cannot read the reason...

And I definitely agree on the edit button, great idea if you made an error in your comment textwise or other. This would eliminate the problem with the second comment you HAVE to make to edit you comment now.

Can't wait to see the outcoming results on this topic! =)

Yeah the purpose of comenting on games is telling them if its good/bad and why.I do think they should make the rule that they MUST have atleast 7 words in their comment.

Yeah, that could at least slow down spam a little. Of course, then people will write:

Very very very very very very good

Or some other way to get around it but it will do good for the comments anyway.

The thing is, the flag button only sends the problem to an administrator (or that's what I've been thinking for the past year), so the process of taking care of flagged posts is not very effective.

And when you first create an account, it doesn't even point you to the Rules & Guidelines, it just lets you loose. The Newcomer's Forum is a help, but the stickies are too overwhelming for a newbie. When I joined Kongregate, the stickies were too much, I have barely read any. And don't forget about the 10%+ amount of accounts who can't even find the forums, or know anything about it. I better shut up before I get too off topic.

I believe ArmoGames is mostly in fault for the spam.
