Anyone scared of lightning or thunder or similar storms?

Well, light travels faster than sound. Hence you saw the flash first and then the noise. You probably knew that though. I don't remember the calculation, but I am pretty sure that you can tell exactly how far away the lightning is based on the amount of time between the flash and boom.

My gut was thinking a mile as well... so I think we are correct with that assumption.

I love thunder and lightning! I love watching it outside during thunderstorms. I wish I lived further out west so I could see more!

Just as your not wearing bling and have pretty much good luck, your safe to go outside. I haven't heard thunder since last year. The most i've heard would be in the Philippines.

No, I'm not so scared. The thunder sound is like a explosion. =) I haven't had thunder...around my area. Thunder is rare around my area. I've got rain though.

Lighting is one of my biggest fears. Whenever I hear or see lighting (there are many lightning storms where I am) I go crazy!
