There has been alot in the media recently about comedians and their joke that "ush the envelope". Since the Summer and the Brand/Ross vs. Sachs radio debacle there have been a number of incidents where the jokes of comedians have been called into question. For example Frankie Boyle's joke about the Queen and Jimmy Carr's veterans/paralympics joke (look em up if you want their not rally appopriate for a PG13 site). So should comedians have free reign over material? Is it a case of if you don't like it don't listen? Or do comedians have a responsibility not to offend groups or individuals etc. Bear in mind new BBc guidelines would ahve meant some scenes from classic comedies like Fawltey Towers, Blackadder and The Office would be oulawed. What do you think?
believe in freedom so strongly if you want to go into the streets and shout N****r at every black man you see, I would support you for speaking your mind. I'm not gonna do it, or agree with you, but hey, "Freedom of Speech". It's YOUR tongue and I'm not gonna metaphorically cut it off just because I don't agree with you or you offend me. Tv is offending. The internet is offending. Hell, life is offending. But it's not my place (or anyone elses) to say when to draw the line. As long as you aren't interfering with someone's freedom, go ahead.
While I agree with the sentiment I'm not to sure of your example. If a person was just out in the street yelling at others then those who don't want to hear it don't have the option to not listen. This in a way then infringes on others freedoms. Now if this person went on TV, Radio, Internet and decided to yell n****r then I would be fine with it. I don't have to hear it if I don't want to then.
Freedom of speech is given to those who do not deserve to be free, who would speak out against the very government that has granted them the freedom to do so. We have become too comfortable with our freedoms (which have been hard-earned). It's time to cut back.
How about we start by taking your freedoms away and we will see just how much your for this idea then.

Typical anti-reform drama... The fact of the matter is that Freedom of Speech has been taken away again, and the Supreme Court of the time ruled it constitutional. I applaud them, and wish it could happen today in the modern climate of "OMG HUMAN RIGHTS PRISONERS NEED CHOCOLATE CAKE!"
If logic, math, and/or science are used to back up a joke. It's not mean if it's true. If you are just voicing your opinion and it is false or offensive, sure you are protected by the constitution but unless new valid information is learned then it is never true or right.

Hmm, let me guess there's no establishing a dialog with you is there?
There are some interesting points coming up though since very few of you are COMPLETELY INSANE they're generally in favouri of the freedom of cemedians. I thnk their will always be some one out there who finds dark comedy funny; after all their are whole (brilliant) websites dedicated to them.
"I saw a newspaper headline that read 'Man Held After Rape' I though 'my god!! he cuddled'"
One of my favourite jokes and only aprtially because I saw a newspaper headline like that and laughed... in the middle of a crowded newspaper store >_> they hated me lol.

A joke is always a joke when you are drunk. When you are not it depends from the person who says it , the person who hears it and the reactions of the persons near him if there are any.
It depends on the person you tell it to. Such as, if I told a joke that insulted one of my friends he whould be fine, but if I told a joke that insulted a mentally retarded person that can't understand the concept of joking then he whould probably get me in trouble...

Everyone have a different sense of humor. For example, i find cancer funny. I make no excuses i'm a horrible human being and more than likely am going to hell. Say what you want and do what you want but don't be surprised when someone calls you an a**hole and/or punches you in the face. People are allowed to tell any joke they want and your allowed to get pissed off at the guy because that's the beauty of not living in a police state.
