What band or person is the most underrated muscician of all time. It can be from any genre or any period of time. Try to be creative with your answer. or not. I don't care.

Well the most underrated band in my opinion is Pink Floyd. David Gilmour (their guitarist) also does not get all the credit he deserves. He is a magnificent guitarist and his style influenced many modern rock bands.

Pink Floyd gets underrated, but they at least have a decent fan base and plenty of respect from people who truly know rock.

Maybe in a decade or two when their legacy can be seen, one of the bands currently in underground. Many of them have amazing sound and amazing lyrics. Not only do they refuse to use systems which make songs more catchy (as many mainstream artists do nowadays, sometimes even COMPUTERS to make it more catchy!), but their lyrics can be deeper than the soul.

The pixies are probably the most underrated band of all time, because the group is frequently posited as the immediate forebear of the alternative rock boom of the 1990s, though they disbanded before reaping any of the benefits this might have brought them.
Their song where is my mind is amazing.

You guys are probably going to say I'm wrong, but AC/DC. Sure, Angus Young is kind of overrated as a guitarist, but their rhythm section is amazing and gets picked on for being "repetitive" even though they simply hold the songs together. And they do it incredibly well. Concerning their albums and work, everyone says their favorite AC/DC album is Back in Black, and their favorite songs are Back in Black, T.N.T, For Those About To Rock, and Highway to Hell. They obviously don't dig deep enough into the AC/DC discography to find songs that are even better than those 4. Also Back in Black is not their best album. Dirty Deeds is

Pink Floyd is underrated because they are too weird and too deep for people to get them most of the time. But if you CAN understand it, or just appreciate really good music you won't underrate them.

Most underrated band of all time though? Hmm I think that goes to... Anvil? Great documentary about them actually. They're pretty underrated still even with that documentary. I don't listen to them much, but I'd say they are definitely underrated.

Not sure if they are the most underrated band of all time. That's a tough question.

I'll go ahead and say Faith No More.

They started the punk funk rock/metal genre.

They make so many good songs, spanning so many different styles. Probably the worst part about the band is that if you find a song you truly like, you will probably have a hard time finding a similar song by them.

Their lead singer Mike Patton is arguably the most talented frontman ever, he can do just about anything with his pipes.

FNM - Everythings Ruined (gotta love them old music videos)

Wow, you people don't know what underrated is. It is the opposite of overrated, which is too much fame that is not deserved, eg. Linkin Park (ty Centie); it means a truly awesome band that is not as recognized as they really deserve to be. So, AC/DC and Metallica? Anybody who's ever heard a rock song knows AC/DC, and Metallica is in the freakin Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, how could they be underrated?

There are so many underrated bands out there, you can't name just one. I'm not assuming Rush is terribly popular, so I'll say them, August Burns Red, and 12 Stones are some of my faves.

I think among rock fans, Rush is very popular, but when you move away from rock fans, they are probably barely known.

Angus Young is kind of overrated
I see him more as underrated. He gets criticized for his repetition (I personally don't agree with that) that you mentioned and the Rolling Stones Top 100 Greatest Guitarist Of All Time (as lame as that list may be) put him at 96, but almost didn't put him at all. He does not get the recognition he deserves. Angus really influence mean when I was younger to play guitar after I watched him play live.

His power chords give edginess and raw energy to every song. He also is extremely talented musician that deserves more respect.

influenced me
I'll correct that while I'm at it.

but when you move away from rock fans, they are probably barely known.
That is extremely true with a lot of outstanding bands.

I'm also going to add in Stevie Ray Vaughn. He was also a very talented musician/vocalist. His style of guitar influenced modern rock riffs, but he is rarely mentioned or given credit for his skill and determination.

And that's what's so great about AC/DC even though people don't realize it. They're incredibly energetic.

My opinion? Dragonforce. I'm not even going to begin how many times they have been hated because of personal opinions of how they do their music. The first person on this thread that says "studioforce" or " their music is fake" will make me bring up interviews and proof that they are a genuine band. They deserve more credit than the crap that they have to put up with.
