"The Day Of The Triffids" by John Wyndham! I enjoyed that book so much I read it twice in a row! But that was then, now I'm not much of a reader, unless you count threads and comments as reading... LOL
Grade school, eh? Hm... That would probably have to be... A Series of Unfortunate Events, just because I wasn't much of a reader in grade school. Once I got into junior high though, I don't think I left a single book untouched in the school library.
I have two books/series that I completely remember from my elementary school days:
First was the Wayside School series by Louis Sacher. I loved those crazy kids and the unique world that they lived in. I can still remember many of the short stories/chapters that happened in the books! I think I re-read those books until the pages looked completely worn!
Second, on a serious note, the book that I remember as the first book that evoked a hardcore emotion out of me was "Where the Red Fern Grows". I don't remember the author's name, but it was a really great story about two hunting dogs and the relationship with their owner. Its happy and sad; The whole story comes around full circle in the end, and I just loved it!
I honestly don't know what book I liked back then.... Ehhhh, not sure! It was a long time ago, and I have the memory of a goldfish (no offense to all those glorious goldfishes out there)... I choose Dr. Mugg.
Amazing story. Represents true things that went on around the Holocaust. I never really read often, but I read that book and never stopped. Very, very touching and sad but great story. I hope to see the movie soon.
