From the beginning of man war has lived in our hearts and minds, from fighting for religious beliefs, for new territory, to spread "democracy", to downright anger, war is something all people have in common, even back before Christ there were many great wars, Greece v. Persia, Islam (?) V. Jerusalem and Egypt V. Rome (I think.)

Now to the story.

You a general, have just received news your country has gone to war (More story shall be decided after you make your character.) with a nearby tyrant territory with corrupt ways. Your King decides to send you in to draw first blood, your troops are awaiting your commmand. (I know short op story but all will be revealed once you make your character that's when we get into the advanced story.) We shall begin the campaign tomorrow.

Name: Something that matches your country/culture
Country: Look below
Rank: General (duh, you may become a king once you gather enough victories and etc.)
Age: 21-40
1st Garrison size: 500
1st Garrison location: Depending on country
2nd/Backup Garrison size: 350
2nd Garrison location: Depending on country (You have the ability to add more garrisons later on.)
Elites (Veterans.): 0
Catapults: 0
Naval Ships: 0
Cavalry/Chariots: 100
Current strategy:
Special Ability: Depends on country
Equipment: Standard swords and bows

COUNTRIES

Greece: Probably the most dominant in Naval warfare (Because of the discovery of Greek fire) Greece is a relatively small nation made up of city states, such as Athens, Sparta etc... has the most loyal soldiers, it's strategy usually consists of using Phalanxes/Hoplites to use their shields to basically out defend the enemy (Defensive minded player.)
Persia: The best archers and horsemen in the game, Persia's strategies usually consist of tricking the enemy into a trap, yet if the opponent reacts accordingly to the trick the Persians do not have that many trained combatants (more for the strategic thinking player.)
Egypt: With the highly trained Egyptian army you can use your experienced infantrymen to either flank or bash straight on into the opponent. Their weakness is Naval warfare (For the on foot player.)
Islam: Highly religious Islam is also growing power, the advanced Islamic weapons make any fight a more favorable one, and they are also the most loyal, yet they get tired after traveling all the way up from Africa so they are quite fatigued. (not time realistic :P more for the weapon maker type player.)

Have a good time.

Born in Sparta you were raised to be a soldier, from day one you enlisted in the academy to become a hoplite when you were 16 you were granted that wish, by the time you were 24 you were a great soldier and promoted to the rank of Field Commander after proving your worth as a strategist in the Battle of Marathon you were promoted to General, after the war with Persia ended a new empire awoke from the ashes, that empire was called: Owlurus, who are very intelligent in the arts of warfare. One day after war was announced (After Owlurus blatantly attacked Corinth) the King of Athens calls you into his meeting room, "Demosthenes, I require you to attack the Owlurian town of Polis in order to draw first blood in this sure to be long war, Hermes's speed and Zeus's luck to you." You arrive at Polis, what is your strategy?

I'll need some information on my enemy first:
1. How many troops do they have?
2. Is their town defended, and if so, in what way?
3. What kind of troops do they have?
4. Where are the paths in and out of the town, as well as trade routes?
5. What is the surrounding area like?
6. What is the size of the town?
7. What equipment do they have?

1. about 375 100 of which are very disorganized
2. Small wall with archer towers
3. Archers (200) Cavalry (50) Spearmen (100) Swordsmen (25)
4. the main trade route starts at the main gate, the most discreet path is the one on the south where only 30 archers stand guard
5. Desert, large mountains
6. relatively small (4000 residents) If that's realistic lol
7. Standard

After your people lost the war to Greece (I think.) you always wanted to avenge the loss, after years pf training under swords master Quintus, it is found out you are of Noble birth! thrusted into Squire hood you are quickly promoted to General, at age 23 you are the youngest general in any army, so you are often overlooked as a weakling with no experience, so you often barge in headstrong into battles you usually lose, but after thinking a Roman unit was Greek you accidentally get your country into a war with Rome! you are sent to Rhodes (Romans took this town from Greece.) to draw first blood, strategy?

Okay.
Step 1: Send a regiment consisting of mostly archers, but some footsoldiers for their protection, towards the trade route, blocking it off. Since trade routes are incredibly important, the whole guard, or at least a lot of them, should be sent to take care of the archers.
Step 2: When the enemy takes the trap, half of our army will march in as quickly as possible through the discreet path, killing anyone who stands in their way, and go into the town, which they will then commandeer. If the enemy army tries to get back in, our army that is inside will start killing civilians. Hostage situation.
Step 3: The other half of the army, left outside the town, will split into two groups; one consisting of heavy artillery, horseback riders, and elite on-foot fighters, and the other half consisting of everything else. The first half will go to rescue the distraction regiment. The other half will be a backup and long-distance aid, providing medical help, rescuing injured soldiers from the battlefield, shooting enemies far away but not giving away their position, and if the worst comes to the worst, they will go to help the forces inside the town.
Step 4: All forces except the half army inside the town will rendezvous at the site of the camp of the backup regiment. Then, all forces will surround the town, then some of them will go in to help the army inside.
Step 5: Once victory has been achieved, raze the city to the ground.

Got all that? Good.

Oh, by the way

Quintus

That's Latin, for "fifth". Good to see that someone other than me knows the good old language of the Romans! Unless it was unintentional?

Yeah I know Roman and Greek quite fluently :P I just thought Quintus sounded like a good name for a swords master

*I'm warning all players right now I bring EVERYTHING into the strategy of warfare AKA I take this VERY seriously lol*

1. your regiment arrives unnoticed and easily takes the trade route ( a loss of 10 troops for the Owlurians 3 for the Greeks, the small guard saw you because it was the light of day!)
2. The other half of your army arrives in town (0 loses for either side The Owlurians all went outside to deal with the trade routers)
3. They split into infantry and cavalry units bu since they were disorganized after the battle erupted they take some loses, your backup gets to a nearby mountain to hide on top of. ( 30 loses for Greeks 14 for Owlurians.)
4. Rendezvous huh? Nice strategy except your men are in a battle and the Owlurians follow you to the Rendezvous! (67 loses for the Greeks 44 for the Owlurians)
5. Victory has not been achieved

Strategy now? (Sorry It takes a long time for me to respond I'm taking little breaks watching tv lol.)

Hang on, I think you misunderstood.
I meant Step 4 to be done only after Step 3 had been fully completed.

Alright.
100 Civilians will be killed because of the continued fighting, one for every Greek lost on the battlefield. We will send a courtier to the Owlurians telling them that if bloodshed continues, then it will be worsened tenfold by the blood of the innocent.

Remember your specialty is defense not offense, your easily winning from a defensive standpoint but not really killing anyone anyway, your courtier reaches the king of the Owlurians he states "My people, with their gallant hearts, shall fight to the death."

and he is right as all Owlurians are trained soldiers they pick up their local weapons (Pitchforks, Shovels, some swords, etc...)
and begin attacking.
