No wonder the Brits always have to have tea time. With booze cheaper than water they can save money that would have been used on the water and just get hammered. What a country.

because if we don't, we'll end up sucking the fresh water sources dry.

It is the bottled water. If you get bottled water then you are basically paying for the package since the amount of water in a bottle of water(on average) is worth about 5 cents if you get it from your tap at home. But still I don't get why they are putting beer cheaper than bottled water but it might be because the price of bottled water has gone up instead of beers price gone down.

High demand for battled water, especially where I live where you can't really drink the tap water. People are willing to pay a lot of money for bottled water and most of it is just tap water, but as people are willing to pay for it someone is willing to get rich off of it.

Actually the beer companies are just intentionally undercutting the price of water with their product so that more people will go out and get drunk. And yes, beer is 90% water.

Considering that this was right in the article im surprised no one brought this up. The stores are selling beer for prices so low that they are actualy making a loss of profits form it, but they put the beer in the back of the stores so the custamers (hopefuly)buy other things. So its basicly a marketing stratagy. Some super markets did this with the last Harry Potter book actualy.

trust me the beer u are talking about is horrible. even for scummy pikey children it doesnt taste good. if people want to go out and get wankered u get super tennants, lambrini, white ace or just straight vodka, not cheap beer.

the cheapest i ever go now is carling/fosters even if it does taste like piss. the cheaper stuff is really horrble.

also can just point out that no one has mentoned how overpriced water is. beer may be too cheap, but bottled water costs a ridiculous amount too. you have to look at both sides of the coin.

Back in the Dark Ages, people would actually drink beer in stead of water, since 'raw' water was usually contaminated with all sorts of diseases, and the brewing process of beer removed those - which made beer the better choice.

Then again, it didn't have that much alcohol in it as it does now, I believe. So it was practically water...

I hate it when governments try to limt consumption of certain products because they deem them unsafe or degenerate. Either let me drink, or make drink illegal, no bloody half measures.

Despite what the OP may suggest, beer is actually getting very expensive. There has always been the really cheap crap, but once youre of age, you dont ever drink the stuff. From the tap in london, an aveage pint is 3.50, so about $7, unless you want to go to a horrible dive or a wetherspoons, which i dont really want to do (or shoul dhave to do). But its the bloody nanny state all over again telling me what i can or cannot do for myself.

The pound is no longer worth $2. The actual retail price (gotta love the price is right) would be $5.59.
