It is, as Mage said, a lack of knowledge. Which isn't what it sounds like. It's kind of hard to explain. It's like we accept that we're ignorant of whatever spiritual being(s) there is/are or is/are not there, and therefore have no opinion due to our self-proclaimed lack of true knowledge. You could say that this line is our slogan: "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." -Socrates So basically, it's like we have no religion, not even lack of faith like Atheism. It's kind of like, I know that I don't know. Whoa, that sounded kind of confusing.
Being an Agnostic myself, what it means to me is this:
I choose not to practice any religion because no religion can offer proof of the existence of their respective deity. I do not attempt to refute the existence of said deities, and I remain open to the possibility that they do exist.
Here's a video I did it covers the definitions of both atheist and agnostic. Sorry for the sound I have a crappy system for that and I'm not a very good speaker.
Thanks greene that helped a lot more than the encyclopedia sized wiki article.
For further reference, wikipedia is useless crap(no offense to the site or anything). It's unreliable; anyone can edit it, you know. Hey: what, Mage, Swift, and I didn't post? x{ Just kidding. Lol.

I wouldn't necessarily say that makes the information that can be found there crap. But from what I have seen, it tends to be a bit misleading on this subject.
God may or may not exist. I believe at the moment that he does exist, but I can be swayed otherwise. You prove that he doesn't, with definite proof, I'll believe you. I would then become atheist. If you prove definitely that he does, I'll think that my hunch was right all along.
