Deep down, we all know that user-created ratings for games can't be trusted. There are too many maniacs who give games perfect 10s and too many angry noobs that give games 0s. The reviews aren't very descriptive of a game either. Most reviews just say "I like it" or "It's boring" or something vauge like that. Once in a blue moon someone actually examines a game and makes a well thought out review of it with a fair score. But it doesn't make up for all the other contaminations of a game's rating.
But this doesn't happen for movies and video games. Well actually they do, but most people who just want to see how good a movie or game is simply reads a review about it in the newspaper, magazine, gaming site etc. Can't there be something like this for flash games. Sure they're less "important" and "non-profitable" so they probably won't get gaming websites dedicated to rating flash games (which is actually a really good idea). I suggest armorgames makes a system where people can see the game's user rating, but also the rating people who actually give honest reviews gives it. This position could be determined based on how many armor points a user has. Or maybe all reviews that are longer than 100 words or so can be placed in a special comment viewing section. I don't know which methods would be possible or not, but a method that resolves my complaints has to exist somewhere. I hope other people have suggestions as well
Just because a person has more Armor Points doesn't mean they post better quality comments. It might be the opposite; i.e. they spammed to get that much AP.
And also, a word limit can easily be bypassed by typing/cp'ing gibberish or nonsensical language. And this is why the merit system was created
This problem has indeed been optioned and discussed before in the forums in the same way you present it now. There has to be a way to get people to think up and write proper comments/reviews on games rather than to simply say 'i like it', 'good', 'bad' or 's*cks' and rate the game to get their soooo wanted AP for it.
Now what if they would indeed change the comments on the games to a minimum of a 100 words per comment? Wouldn't that simply result in the possibility of people leaving AG to go to another gaming site where they CAN get points easily, by commenting on a game through a simple '2- or 3-word sentence'?
The best way for the rating system to get 'updated' would indeed be to have it turn into a game-time-rating to get a proper idea of how popular a game is and how much it's played...
well there are serious people out there what! so you want to see them well its easy just go into the forums most people there arent obsessed with AP and just they just like talking and seriously rating and commenting games but..there are some spammers in the forums

Example of game comment that disappeared: a aw awe awes aweso awesom awesome awesom aweso awes awe aw a aw awe awes aweso awesom awesome awesom aweso awes awe aw a If people care to type that out, or "gggggggggggggggggggggggggg" for that matter, they will go around any limit just for the ap.
Most reviews just say "I like it" or "It's boring" or something vauge like that.
Until it is deleted. And I assure you, it darn will be.

Merited comments. Go look it up.

There are actually good comments that are about 20 words long, or sometimes even shorter. They focus on what should be changed, and then moves on. "Good, but I think it would improve if we could get weapons or had a way to kill the monkeys." (<Good comment, do like that)
Armorgames also counters bad rating to new games by putting them on the "New Games" section where every user, new or old, has an opportunity to try out the new games.
It still doesn't counter dishonest ratings. Any person with a bright lightbulb would rate whatever number for AP, even though its a lightbulb with a dim morality. Sure, the staff puts the new games on the front page so everyone can try them out when they are released, but it doesn't stop them from poorly rating it.
Games that haven't gotten rated by many users will suffer the most from dishonest/half-assed ratings, but once a game gets a few thousand ratings in, it'll show the rating it deserves.
A few-hundred .5's and a thousand 10's does not an average rating make. This is also how spammers work.

I recommend if you haven't checked it out already. They review flash games (including many Armor Games sponsored works) and downloadable games.
The rating is how everyday users like the game. So if they're biased, who cares?
I don't look at a game by rating, or compare. Rating really doesn't matter (unlike Kong where money=rating) and if you think it's biased then don't look at it and evaluate the game for yourself. Some problems just can't be solved, you know.
Instead of putting the 100 words or more comments in a different section I would try putting the 25 words or less comments into a different section that way you dont have to load another page to see the good comments.
If AP is the problem, not ratings, why not just change the AP system?
It's both... you get 2 AP for pressing a button. I've said on and on that 0 AP for rating is fine, but apparently the staff wants to keep it.
I.e. If you also had to rate + comment (Like newgrounds) or that, like some said, a min. number of words. (10 maybe?)
See page one of this thread down in the middle bottom to see why that cant' work.
Game comments are the real issue.
Mods watch over the community anyways. In my opinion, I say that forum posts should be 2 AP and game comments should be one. anyone who spams in the forums would be caught by the mods and be dealt with.

How about just AP for forum posts, merits, and games submitted?
