There used to be an indicator on the users profile. Now it's gone. You can't tell if someone is online or not.

You get their AIM/MSN, then you ask "are you online?" and start talking if they are.
Other than that, there is only the hit and miss kinda way where you post in their comments to get their attention, but I like the AIM/MSN way better.

The indicator (that red dot) will be back to working once AG's problems are fixed. When they do, the red dot next someone will turn to a green dot if they are online. For now, you just have to rely on forum posts and game/profile comments to know for sure if they are on.

Not very useful if you like privacy and secrecy....

There used to be a long list of names at the bottom of the Community homepage. It had all the user names of people on in the last 5 minutes. It was so useful... I think I met a few new people with it, and knew when my friends where online.

There was also a time when the red button next to your name on your Profile actually worked (It turned green when you posted or commented, for about 10 minutes to show you were on). But now they shut it down (It must have been a pressure on server speed).

The indicator (that red dot) will be back to working once AG's problems are fixed.

That's a question that has been unanswered for almost a year. No one knows if AG has been fixed yet, or not (Quite frankly, I'm not experiencing any problems at the moment).

you take a piece of bread and put butter on BEFORE you put it in the toaster. turn the toaster on and if the bread has a face on it he/she is on. if it has anything else, the person committed suicide.

The way to check if they are online?

Guys, that's sort of spammy. It doesn't contribute to the topic, and is random rambling.

Duh, AIM = private talk. There is always the option to make an email for AG.
Besides, the comments =/= chat box, so basically getting an actual messenger would be better. Or make a chat room, or something similar, because that is pretty much the best option. Hit and miss version: not as good.
Besides, I have msn, I have something similar to three people who wants to talk at random times, no more. And I am god darn mod. So privacy, it is there. And there is always the "ban" button, if you don't want to talk to people.

I don't know a thing about AIM. I used to use it for my goals, now I just leave it blank...

Yeah, loads of people use comments as a sort of slower chat. It's how some users make 100+ AP every day (I managed to make 50 AP for a week running) and get in the top 100 (Although if all you do is comment for points, then you're pretty sad).

And there is always the "ban" button, if you don't want to talk to people.

...

...

Was that a threat to everybody who comments Cenny random? Maybe I should delete those conversations I had with you...

Leave no evidence... lalalala...

And I am god darn mod.

Hey, that's arrogant!!! Unless you bring the 'three pieces of evidence' to court, you're statement is unreliable.

I don't think the common AGer would like that idea. The common man that wants to keep their AP anyways. I like the messenger thing as it is indeed private. I have to admit, after replying to a person's profile, I see the next comment under me, and then I see the next, and the next, and the next.....

This is probably not the correct words, but the messenger would essentially be a chat room for 2 people. So only you and the person you're talking with would get the comments, and when the messenger ends, it dies, and more messengers would just "refresh" the board with a clean slate as it were.

Something to add to the messenger thing. If someone wants to talk to you, YOU'RE the mod. As in, you open up their messenger so they will have to talk to you. They have the option to care, or not care. If you want to message someone, you're just a normie ;-)

You can't. As it is, it is physically improbable to tell if someone is online. Your chances with mental abilities are slightly better, but there are several variables that determine this exact chance, which include, but are not limited too:

-level of psychic abilities
-your level of intellect
-your ability to use telepathy
-how good you are at guessing

That's almost the same. Almost...

People, you're going to have to live with it for now.

Mods won't delete those conversations unless their spammy, completely one worded or no conversation. Otherwise I guess they allow they normal 10+ comment conversations about 'apples are better oranges' (I disagree) and that stuff.

-how good you are at guessing

Comes in handy, luck does...

-your level of intellect

Smart people would see a pattern in their friends activity, and logically deduct when their friends are online (Hint, hint!).
