Please give us the basic tools available on any other forum out there. Seriously not being able to edit posts is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of in my life. I still would like to see signatures, but post editing is so much more important.

Really Balerion? You should know better. You have nooooo idea how many times editing has been asked by us. We will get it; I swear, an edit post feature will be the first to be implemented once the web designers are done fine-tuning the site.

Signatures are annoying, and you can post yourself, and, make sure your post is what you want, so you don't NEED to edit it.

Edit would be fine, I guess. I heard that they didn't have an edit button because people could make it look like they didn't break rules, but editing posts works perfectly on That Other Forum. Users never manage to cover up their rule breaking like that.

I can't say "no" strongly enough on signatures. For what could you possibly use a signature, besides being an eyesore?

This is why the admins aren't proposing editable posts, but a post preview, which will show what the post will look like and to make sure that your post is as you want it. aaaand what's done is done, and guys will not have any excuse for making double posts about how they have made mistakes.

I think a preview is the best way to solve this ever going back and forth on wanting/not wanting editable posts in the forum...

This way you would be able to see what you write and correct mistakes in the text. And when you DO leave one hanging in between the lines... other people can at least have a laugh about it and move on with the discussion!

Signatures is a big NO-NO!!! If you ask me, this will only provide the AG users an extra excuse to go see the eyedoctor! *go seeee the doctooooooooorrrrrr* Sorry! That song just popped up out of nowhere! Honest!!
Why? Because their brain is flooded with blinking, colourful and maybe even obscure signatures by people who are afraid that someone else doesn't see the post they have written...
To those people I'll say... don't worry! People who actually care about other peoples posts in a thread WILL read them! Those who don't care are probably not even worth reading your words...

A post preview is exactly like reading it in the text box. Creating a preview feature probably won't help much at all, as we can already see what we've written, just not in that odd font.

I have never seen someone editing their post so that it looks like they've never broken the rules. And anyway, the amount of people that say something extremely offensive or discriminating on this forum is tiny in comparison to those whom would genuinely need to correct the grammar or spelling in a post. Not only that, moderators/administrators should be on frequently enough to catch a flagged post, and even if one did edit out the content of the post and what was written previously was never seen, it is unlikely it was there long enough to attract much attention from the general community.

I still would like to see signatures

Edits are more important than signatures, but signatures would still be a nice little feature. You can put heigh and width restrictions on the buggers, some websites make like a 250 x 250 signature size restriction to stop massive and ridiculously complex flashing signatures, and to be honest, a little motto, or your name in a small coloured box at the end of the post will not kill you, seriously.

If seeing a colourful signature at the end of every post is such a painful experience stay away from even the fringes of most forums.

It isn't too painful - That Other Forum I frequent has signatures enabled. I find them to do more harm than good. While not horrific, they are annoying and never contribute anything. People aren't recognized by their signatures. Telling a joke or mentioning a funny quote may be cute, but when it is repeated ever single time a user posts, it's annoying. The only signatures I find passable are blatant self-advertising.

I think that you should be able to edit your posts only, so that the blame always falls on the right person.

How do you know that? I've never heard or seen written that an edit function will be implemented in the Forums. And optimization has been going on a very long time (We don't even know if it still happens).
Signatures are useless.

Sort of true. I mean, all they do is 'sign' your posts. WHy do we need that? Except that their fun, and can be abused.
If you edit something there are people out there who will edit something and say rude stuff.

I do believe that's the main reason the edit function has not been implemented.
I heard that they didn't have an edit button because people could make it look like they didn't break rules, but editing posts works perfectly on That Other Forum.

It may seem clean because people edit their flaming posts...
aaaand what's done is done, and guys will not have any excuse for making double posts about how they have made mistakes.

Good reasoning... When you write in ink, can you erase it? Same thing with clicking the 'Submit' button. That's why, edit it in the writing box.

I really like this preview post thing...

Signatures that are restricted to 200X600 pixels are quite nice for banner making.
