I want to start making walkthroughs. Is the best way to do this by filming the game as you play it as some people have on youtube or type it out step by step?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

It really depends on the game and what information you want to share. Videos are good for showing people how to play the game and beat certain levels, but they suck as a quick reference.

Let's take Gemcraft. If you want to show people how you beat the levels, then a video might be your best bet. If you want to explain what each upgrade is or if you don't mind explaining how to beat each level, then written form is best.

TasselFoot has somehow gained this reputation as a video guide maker. When a game comes out, he already has a guide for it. So he gets to play games before they come out. If you run into a game where he already made a guide, you can always feel free to make one too, but he already has a pretty big name for himself.

Personally, I enjoy written guides more. They are almost always more convenient. I created a guide on all the upgrades in Bubble Tanks. Go to gamefaqs and read guides there, those are almost always very well written.

Okay thanks for your help. The game I want to write a guide for is Assassins Creed II, if you've played the game yourself you'd know that there are many ways to get from one place to another and the missions/memorys are pretty basic so it's just mainly the collectables and stuff people would get stuck with so I assume a written guide ould be better?

I still need to play that game. My xbox died on me.

This forum section is really meant for flash games. Tasselfoot only covers flash games, which I thought you were talking about.

You might fit in more at gamefaqs.com when it comes to game guides. I'm pretty sure that Assassins Creed II already has a bunch of guides already written for it. It still is worth checking out. If anything, you can email some other people who already wrote guides and tell them if you have any ideas.
