During my fairly long attendance of this site and the forums, I've seen a number of decent suggestions be shot down because they aren't do-able for technical reasons. Of course this is fair enough for the admins, and people working behind the scene, but I sometimes get the feeling, aren't we going about this the wrong way?

Instead of users posting suggestions to be taken on board or not, perhaps the admins could play a slightly more active role by posting what they think are plausible ideas for features they would like to add, and see which get the most plaudits in order to prioritise.

I think this could save a lot of time and effort on behalf of both users and admins, who would no longer waste time either coming up with ideas that are destined to fail, or having to sift through pages of unworkable suggestions.

So, what do you think?

Those are user suggestions, I believe.

No, what I'm talking about is different. This is purely regarding suggestions for the site. That thread deals with a whole other range of issues. It also doesn't specifically state which updates are being thought about as most feasible by admins either. Plus, it was last updates in September 08.

I honestly do not think they care what we think.

...and yet they did the saintly job of putting OUR IDEAS on the thread to be stickied anyway. Who knows when they'll be finished with "optimizing the site", but once that IS done, they WILL add these common suggestions to the site for us to enjoy. Besides it's not like the common AGer is doing squat diddly to help them or anything....

Can't rush it more than I already am. Real life stuff getting in the way. I have heard it should be more important than the srs bsns of the intertubes.

Might be an idea, but then again, the admins that would actually be able to do anything seems awefull distant.

Of course. I'm not demanding this be implemented right away, but I hope the admins at least consider it. It could save lots of people lots of time.

Well if admins want to post ideas...no one is stoping them. And there is more users then admins, so:

more users=more ideas

only admins=not much ideas

The suggestion seems to be a rather clever one! And I can't recall ever have seen it suggested before here...

What you mean is to simply make a separate place (maybe somewhere in the forum) where a suggestion by the admins is put up and all users can vote Y / N and explain why about it?
That would really work!

An example would be something simple like this then:

Q: Do you think a Chat option should be installed on Armor Games?

O Yes

O No

Reasoning: _______________________________________________

This way, the admins will only have to look at the voting results and the reasoning about it, instead of having to sift through miles of posts! Nice!

Hope they will pick this up quick! =D
