I used to play video games for 4 or 6 hours non stop when i was like 12. My parents used to say i was addicted but i was thinkin in my own mind that i wasnt...What do you think about people that play video games long period of times?

Now i have sold my xbox and kinda grew out of games, magically i guess, i dont even think about games anymore, infact im more attached to the forum than the games here.

Yep I agree.

I was actually going to start a topic on this but you beat me to it. Basically video games cause endorphins to attach to the brain's synaptic receptors causing euphoria or "happiness" that is the feeling you get when youre gaming. A rush like no other. It is true to any gamer who plays games more than 3 hours... I my self have had that problem I recall playing MW2 until 4 AM with my college classmates and kirbzy. THough I am curbing that problem by lending out my xbox on the weekdays and playing only on the weekends.

My parents used to say i was addicted but i was thinkin in my own mind that i wasnt...

same here dude. Its scary what games do to you. I be when your parents told you to stop you got all pissed off. If not well I did. it was like a crack addiction or something.

But most of my game addiction probably came from the fact that I became good at games. and decided to go semi-pro in the halo area. I know kirbzy can attest to some of my awesomeness. But Having retired from the semi-pro circuit just last month after MLG orlando. I feel relieved actually b/c I dont have to really Game to win I.E no pressure.

as wordy as this post is. Video games should probably played in moderation... b/c it is a real addiction.

dude when you were "addicted" did you have like intense moodswings, and got pissed off at ppl for no reason? (or small reasons) I know I did lol.. my teammates at tournaments had to like hold me back and stuff when we lost.

Yo yeah o.o! It was so weird.. Like ppl would tell me to stop playing and I'd say ''F*** Off'' Yeah I had a pretty dirty mouth

But anyways.. It was very weird.. video games can be scary if you get addicted. Halo was way too much fun though xD!

Good times..

An addiction is basically something that, to stop, you have to apply lots of focus and energy to. Video games, eating, smoking, drinking, texting, Facebook are all examples of things that can cause an addiction. Remember, moderation is key.

On a potential tangent that isn't video game related, some people say all addictions are bad because they consume you, but that brings up the interesting question of those addicted to religion. I know most of you will say "Of course that's bad" but to those that do believe in one religion or another, is that addiction necessarily bad? Just a thought I had while writing this.

Sorry, I just had to mention that although, back to the original point, you probably were addicted to video games but most of today's kids are for a while, some never grow out of it and those are the scary ones, the 40 yr olds playing WoW 20/7 (gotta have some sleep, right?)

Video games can be addicting, but people with self control shouldn't have a problem limiting their game play to their free time.

yes and no. In the medical field an addiction is something that affects the course of daily life.

daily life would of course be waking, eating, going to work ect.
