Why not make a post preview thread and then sticky it like the search thread. The thread could even be put in forum games so that you don't get AP for posting in it.
All the user would have to do is copy and past there post into the post as a reply in the post preview thread to see how it will come out before posting it were they actually intend to put it. And no extra programming would be required to implement it. Just a thread that's stickied.
It would be really helpful in instances when you have to post long walkthroughs and need to see if were to add double spaces and or bold/italic and how things will line up.
The idea has been suggested here before (maybe in a bit different sentence), but when you write long pieces... why not write them in a text programm first, check it for flaws and grammar... and then copy-paste it into a post and submit?
I do this whenever I write long pieces for a review and this works fine if you ask me!

Yeah. It was suggested to put the preview feature right before you post.

Or use the browser spell check. I think all the good ones have a pretty good one.

Yeah, I know what you mean. And it really hurts when you start a thread, and the first post is already messed up.

Yeah, and I know it's a quote unquote common suggestion. But this solution would require no extra programming on AGs part a mod or admin just has to sticky a thread called post preview.
Word has a habit of having signs AG doesn't recognize.
AG seems to only understand basic text. I will show.
I am attempting to write the Spanish n-e, which is drawn ñ. I meant ñ. I mean ñ. Aaaargh!!! See, doesn't work (If that symbol shows I will cry and scream at my screen).
Even if it does get deleted at least you tried.
And even if you do a mistake, that doesn't mean your post will be deleted (Oh no, I spelld a word wrong!) by a mod, unless they had a really, really, really bad day and hadn't slept in the last 72 hours (Which I guess is a bad three days).
Don't worry: It's ok to write words wrong. It's only harmful when (Like i just experienced) you the item you want to show (Like an image) goes wrong. In that case, either leave it or ask a mod to delete it.
Now some of those look like they are on two lines but they're not (I wanted to get everything on one line.) Then I didn't know how hard it would be to read the individual items so do I bold the first part like this:
I mean I can check how it will look like on an text editor but it's not really gonna give me any idea how the spacing and readability will be on the forum.
What if I want to post a pic. I want to know how it will be spaced or at least how big it will look in line with the forum. You can't get a good idea with a text editor. I'm not really talking so much about misspelled words.
Which is why I abuse forums with a preview function. Dragcave, fx. Work fine. But it actually does seem like a good idea, though the posts should be deleted after use, if located in an ap-giving section. Which is a bother > >...
...though the posts should be deleted after use, if located in an ap-giving section.
The post preview thread could be in the forum games section so no AP would be given. But then people probably wouldn't think to find it there, so a locked, stickied, thread with a link, in the support and suggestion section could be made that redirects people to the Post Preview Thread in the forum games section. But that's a a lot of stickies I guess.
Woah woah woah. You two above me. Aren't we talking about post previews? Where you check if a post is alright and then submitting it? Isn't that post-editing? Previewing and editing doesn't really need the older post deleted, but if you're talking about what we have to deal with right now, then I'lljustgoaheadandshutuprightnow
It's not a Forum Game. Therefore it does not belong there.
I didn't post anything in the forum games section if your wondering. I was just using it as an example of somewhere where no AP is given. I assume the support and suggestions section would be the most appropriate place to put a post preview thread, but then AP would be given. I don't know of any other spot on AG that doesn't give AP other than forum games section.
How about, when you make a thread, you can preview it? Also, make an update thread option for the creator of the thread so he can update it if the information is dated. Also, a grammar and spell checker, because many people on this site need it. (And if you're wondering, yes, I AM insulting your intelligence!)

Would it be a problem for you to have a thread where people could check whether or not their coding is correct, before they post it in the thread they were thinking of?

Besides the post in the count to 100.
spell checker
It can be found as an application to pretty much every browser.

How it works now on that seems to be alright. Or, there is of course the option to make a new thread, if it has to be in the OP.

New comer's.
I do believe it works somehow well without AG doing anything atm. Write it somewhere else, get a spell checker, read it through as many times as you want. If there really is a mistake in spelling, you wouldn't notice it before it was too late anyway, and it does not matter that much either. People do understand you. On the coding, there is always other forums to abuse. Or checking yourself if the code looks right (lower case, both starting and ending tag). We will see.
@ Cenere: just like I stated in my first post in this thread...
Besides saying notepad, coding and getting a spell checker for the interwebs?
To most extents I do not really believe it is up to AG whether or not your posts are looking fancy. Had to delete s bunch of posts just now because someone apparently refused to learn how to make a proper link (even after it was shown how to), and that would not have been fixed with neither spell checker, grammar checker, preview button, nothing. Not even an edit button, since the users did not manage to make a proper link to the site they wanted. Which leads to me going "If you are concerned about how your posts are, you most likely also know how to fix it."
