The ban on GAY MARRIAGES was upheld in an act of "DRAWING THE LINE"
The thought of gays marrying was a joke a couple years ago, but now accepted by around 50% of Americans give or take. My question is where do we draw the line, is it ok for a man to marry a dog, or marry an inanimate object, today this may seem funny but 30 yrs. from now it could be as accepted as gays are now. I am not implying that i'm am either way on this topic and will remain neutral, i would just like to see what the AG communities opinion is about this.

well i would say the line is for me at least when people try to have relationships with anything else than other adult humans.
i personally do not care if a man has a relationship/ is married to a women or a man.
but how can someone seriously marry a dog or a thing?
in order to be married both partners have to agree to that bond. so ho is a dog supposed to declare his will and understand the consequences of it.
so even without declaring the person marrying a computer/dog/himself as crazy and insane, it is not really possible to marry something else than another human being.

Well put donpiet. There are also a number of legal aspects that as a dog or inanimate object really wouldn't apply. but as another human being would. You gain a number of legal rights as a married couple that you don't have any other way. Since gay couples aren't allowed to get married they are denied having these rights with the person they care about.

Well, donpiet, what about other human species (Yes they do exist, Pygmies, Giant Argentinians)

I believe, as long as the partner in marriage, has enough intelligence to recgonize the burden, and acknowledge it, then sure. Let them be married. It won't harm anyone, hell might even help people. But thats my opinion. But a person marrying a rock, is well.... Do I even need to go there?

I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU MAN... AND ROCK.
YOU MAY KISS... THE ROCK.
man kisses the rock, but does the rock kiss back D:

Whatever the case I just think the partners must be intelligent enough and be willing to marry each other. Because if we ever meet a intelligent species besides our own, Im pretty sure there will be a few that will want to be together.

Some people today think race mixing is still bad even, but I think it'd be ufnny depending on the race.

Cuban+ Icelander, and they have Children, their children are= ICECUBES :P

Thats my response.

I'm all up for gay marriage, but marrying inanimate objects and those of a different species is a bit silly. The inanimate objects thing is a forced relationship, if you could call it that, where the person just ups and declares that he/she and this thing are to be wed. Silly as it is, that's not how a bonding relationship such as Marriage is. Same thing for animals, plants, fungi, yadda yadda yadda. Do they understand the humane concept of marriage? I would bet money and my house (not mine lol) that I don't think so. Marriage can only be between humanoids (we will get to this later), since humans are the only creatures that understand the concept of it.

Two (or more) consenting adults should not be banned from marriage. Simple as that.

i do not see your statement opposing my point in any way. you say it yourself. pygmies and giant argentininas are human.
i do not remember making any racial differences between human beings of any kind.

they are denied having these rights

Yes you will all freak out, and it was to be expected in a thread like this...

They are being denied rights that they have no right to have.
