As you probably have heard the Olympics are very near. An unfortunate turn of event's happend to one of them. Nodar Kumaritashvili a luger died on friday while in training. The luger was thrown off the side of his sled and into and unpadded steel pole. He later died in the hospital.
I memory of him please post and interesting fact about the Olympics.
I don't see why people would compete in a deadly sport. In case they don't know, "deadly" means it can kill them. Now, they're just athletes and they're not all that smart, but I'm sure Mr Kumar could've at least figured out the meaning of the word "deadly".
So can football, but these athletes wear protection so it can't be.
In memory of him please post and interesting fact about the Olympics.
The first Olympic winners were crowned in wreathes and were fed for the rest of their lives without their own payment. They were considered heroes in Athens, giving them honor. Boxing was one of the sports played during the ancient Olympics.
Im sure he was aware of the risk of getting hurt, but no one really could've known someone would die. Especially in training because I know when I think of training then I think of something that makes you better at what you do not kill you. Besides no one expected him to die, and im sure he understood the meaning of the word "deadly".
Back then, nude statues , which were made by famous sculptors, were considered forms of highly-popular art. To conceive something so complex as the human body in near-flawless form took some mad skills, and those that performed it well were rewarded handsomely.
Now, they're just athletes and they're not all that smart, but I'm sure Mr Kumar could've at least figured out the meaning of the word "deadly".
Stereotype......
I don't see why people would compete in a deadly sport
Because it's their passion, why do you want to sit around safe all day?
unpadded steel pole
At those speeds, the padding wouldn't have helped. I read the track is supposed to be the 'fastest' in the whole world, and that many people are criticizing that they should have made it safe. Apparently the walls were too low, and raising them may have prevented this accident, not entirely sure though...
I don't know anything about the Olympics, I don't watch them and don't really care much for sports :P.
Why not? Then you'd have someone to watch it with!
What if I want a little girl? I'm not homophobic but still that would be messed up. A little boy would make me seem more and more like a freak. ~~~~ -Don't be a perve-
Um, I know that at the opening ceremony that one or two of the pillars of the olympic flame didn't rise from the ground so some people didn't get to light the olympic flame.
Artists still make naked statues and paintings it's very common. Since prehistoric time, representations of the nude body has been a major theme in art. The nude human form presented is revealed as an object of art and not a person with reference to his or her social relationships and behavioral patterns.
