Miscellaneous games just isn't a very popular genre. Most people look for games that have action, adventure, shooting, and lots of blood. Miscellaneous does not necessarily cater to what people on this site want in a game. So they get lower ratings. That does not mean that they are bad games. Just that the demographic of this site does not like them as much as others.

That's positive... though you do notice it a lot these days.
Miscellaneous does not necessarily cater to what people on this site want in a game.

Misc games are basically everything that does not fall in the good categories (It is sort of a dumping station for leftovers). Pretty much all of them are not similar to the rest in the category, and many users like the categories we have, as those are just what people favor.

And not all Misc games are badly rated: A few like' Learn to fly' and 'Music Catch (2)' are pretty high rated. And 'Music Catch' was very popular on Kong too. Like Carlie said, many games in Misc are simply not what people like.
Just that the demographic of this site does not like them as much as others.

Yeah, most users like the games that fall into the big categories (It's why they're there: Inside the categories are games people simply like).

Not a lot of people play the misc. games, and they don't like it either. But some are highly rated, you just need to look for them.

That and that there isn't enough of an obvious type of game that MISC falls into; e.g. there are a hand full of music-type games, but not enough to actually make its own genre nor the developers to keep a steady flow of these types going.

When developers make a certain genre of games, they essentially know what users want in that game in order to get a fairly high rating. If they don't meet their expectations, then it gets a low rating. What do developers know what users want in a MISC game? MISC could mean anything, so their minds are jumbled about what to do put in one, if they decide to do so.

It would be if someone made a fully adaptable music composing game where you could compose your own music from a large variety of instruments and be able to send what you made to friends and the like. What you made would be playable, and the well-made music composed would be the best sounding also. This aaand...you would be able to select how much of one instrument you want, e.g. 4 1st trumpets 8 2nd trumpets, 1 snare drum, 4 flutes, yadda yadda bing bang.

There's computer software out there like that. FL Studio, Acid, Reason, to name a few. But those aren't games, and they cost hundreds of dollars. You could then share your songs on Music Myspace or what not. Unless you were being sarcastic, then, my bad.

No really I was dead serious; this could be an awesome game if one tried :O

And then they could have flash animations of the band members you added and when the music plays, they are all in this concert and..*rants*

Not only that, but you could share your songs in code form. It would be interesting to see everyone's ideas and how musically talented they are! Punk-O-Matic is alright, but there can be so many combinations before it all sounds the same.

cuz there all dress-up games.

They are not all dress up games. I've only seen one dress up game on AG. There's a lot of music.

A few of the music games are actually pretty popular. But as Freakenstein said, there aren't enough of them.

To make a game like that even fun or useful, it would have to be huge (Garageband is 1.5 Gigabytes of instrument sounds, and I find it very limited). And I wouldn't want to wait for 1 Gigabyte to load on my computer (Flash would probably crash under the stress).

Exactly: Fro pros and people who make music for stuff like games, and sites and Youtube and films, just to name a few. Not for the fun of uploading them to AG.

It might, it might not...

I think it is kinda because there are a lot of dress up games, and so people don't go to misc. games much. Then the people that actually play the misc. games and give low ratings are the only ones who post ratings on them. Some are fun though.

a lot of dress up games

people this is not true: I went through 5 pages of Misc, and only found 5 dress up games. Majority of the games are not dress up. There are more 'throw the animal' games than dress up.
Also it's just the people who play the games must not like them.

Quite frankly, majority of AG users are boys (There are still a lot of good AG girl users though), and the girls that play here are 10 years too old for dress up. Therefore the interested crowd is miniscule and many don't go on AG to play dress up.

It must also be for the games as well: Many people bore quickly of 'fling the animal' fast, as they are pretty short games, and little replay value except for making records.

Why go online, if you have a doll in front of you?
And when girls get older, boys replace the dolls...
And then they can dress them up!
Know I wasn't all to happy about that when it happened to me the first time...

I know for a fact that I am one of those easily bored persons! I just don't see the fun of trying to make records with throwing an animal over a distance... there's no other action involved other than: 'click hold - wait - release button - wait - yay - sigh - and again'...

Right. Although the majority of AG users do not like dress up games (obviously not our demographic), there are still some younger members who play them. Which is why they are there. If they weren't played, we would not have such games. But AG caters to many different types of games that members want.

And that last part, to me, is very important! It's always a good thing to have to broadest variety of games possible on a gaming website! This way the gamers can have all categories to choose from and will always find the game they favour!

And the miscellaneous section could very well present a surpise for you when you 'jump in' and explore it! There's lots of good games in there that don't fit one of those popular categories! You just need to take the plunge...

I am too. But I've met people who can play 'Kamikaze Drive' for months, even though game play is like 0.
Which is why they are there.

ALso because AG developers made them, we must not forget that! But I thing most of the Doll games are pretty old.

Exactly: A site with many different games will attract many different users. And that generally means more people going on AG (Only bad when the server slows down due to 1,000,000 users playing Sonny 2 at once).

I think it is because they have less action, otherwise they would go into action games
