Hello there, everybody! Haven't seen a thread like this around and I was just curious. So tell us what your favourite album(s) of all time is/are, you can post however many entries you want! And remember to say why exactly you like the album(s) so much!
I'll kick this thread off with my Top 5!
5) Houses of the Holy (Led Zeppelin) - Now THIS is a Hard Rock album! It's awesome pallet of musical styles is fresh and fun! Not to mention the whole band is in top form throughout!
4) Let it Bleed (Rolling Stones) - Such a cool one! Playing in a diverse range of styles, from Country, to Blues, to driving Hard Rock, the Stones never sounded better!
3) On the Beach (Neil Young) - This album is all about contrasts! Range of styles, emotion, tempo, and subject matter. Going from the metaphorical, introspective pieces, to the direct, sing-along tunes! Though it isn't as universally revered as Tonight's the Night, I still like this one a helluva lot more!
2) Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) - The best of Pink Floyd's "Classic Era", also hands down their best. This album finds the Floyd's instrumental abilities at their best, not to mention some of Roger Water's best lyrics, which were always top-notch to begin with!
1) The Who Sell Out (The Who) - Good god, words can hardly describe this masterwork of Rock N' Roll! Oh, wait, I can think of a few: Fun, Hard Rockin', Insightful, Satirical, Beautiful, and Fantastic!
Van Halen - 1984 is the greatest album in my opinion. No bad songs on it that I can name. It includes classics like Jump, Drop Dead Legs, Hot For Teacher, and many others. 1984 was certainly a great year for Van Halen.
chaotix, those are awesome albums. Thos albums would probably be in my top list, as well as Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles, Pyromania by Def Leppard, Ten by Pearl Jam, The Joshua Tree by U2, and A Night At The Opera by Queen.
Nevermind (Nirvana) - Legendary band. Legendary album. Changed the world of Alternative rock forever.
Enema of the State (Blink-182) - My favourite band. My favorite album by that band. Adam's Song could possibly be the most emotional song I've ever listened to. Especially once you know what it's about.
Back in Black (AC/DC) - Can't beat the classics . Brian Johnson came in after Scott's tragic death and showed everyone that AC/DC could still be one of the greatest Rock N Roll bands.
Appeal to Reason (Rise Against) - Another great album by one of my favourite bands. 'nuff said.
Homesick (A Day To Remember) - I just started listening to this band this year and man, have they swept me off my feet. This band is great and satisfies my music taste like no other. The mix of punk and post-hardcore and the way this band interprets that is amazing.
Not in any order, my favorites are Houses of the Holy (Led Zeppelin) Colour and the Shape (Foo Fighters) Ten (Pearl Jam) Nevermind (Nirvana) Magical Mystery Tour (Beatles) Pyromania (Def Leppard) Who's Next (The Who) A Night At The Opera (Queen) Parachutes (Coldplay) The Joshua Tree (U2) Are You Experienced (Jimi Hendrix Experience) Maroon (Barenaked Ladies) Stadium Arcadium (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Tattoo You (Rolling Stones) Dark Side Of The Moon (Pink Floyd) Desperado (Eagles) Poodle Hat ("Weird Al" Yankovic) Disraeli Gears (Cream) Pet Sounds (Beach Boys) Rumours (Fleetwood Mac) Americana (The Offspring) Paranoid (Black Sabbath) No More Tears (Ozzy Osbourne) Lamb Lies On Broadway (Genesis) The Doors (The Doors)
7) ...And Justice for All by Metallica. It's freaking epic. However, the middle songs of the album (The Shortest Straw, The Frayed Ends of Sanity, and Harvester of Sorrow) are only okay in comparison to the rest of the album.
6)Youthanasia by Megadeth. It's an awesome album, with only one song that I'm not a big fan of (Youthanasia).
5) Paranoid by Black Sabbath. It's plain awesome. Just pure awesomeness.
4) Fire Your Guns by AC/DC. Most of AC/DC's albums (other than Back in Black) are very high on replayability. This one, however, is awesome and I can listen to it endlessly, clean through.
3) Masters of Reality by Black Sabbath. The whole package is awesome. If anything, Children of the Grave and Lord of This World would carry it alone.
2) Black Rain by Ozzy Osbourne. Just something about this one I really like. I can't quite place it. Something I like about it that places it so high.
1) Ride the Lightning by Metallica. Starting from the intro of Fight Fire With Fire to the ending of the Call of Ktulu, this one is by far filled with the awesomest songs of the 1980's.
Hawk Nelson is my Friend - Hawk Neslon Hawk Nelson is one of the most musical bands of the 21st century. In this album they have a variety of songs including punk, rock, and slow rock songs.
Muse - The Resistance Why I like it? That is a silly question. The Godliness behind the music is indescribable
Absolution by Muse is epic i havent got the resistance but it sounds pretty good. Crazy Ex-girlfriend by Miranda Lambert is epic country (with a bit or rock) at its best.
