He DID NOT write most riffs on ride and master. He did HELP write most kill'em all riffs, but on ride he only gets credit for "Ride the Lightning" and "The Call of Ktulu". And on M.O.P he only wrote a tiny riff for "Lepper Messiah", wich i'm not even sure he did. So if you're saying Metallica's riffs were only good because of Mustaine, you're wrong.

I would have to go for Metallica, sure, they may not be very good anymore. But in their heyday they cemented themselves as one of the best metal bands of all time!
As far as the people in the bands go, I think they both are good and both have extraordinary, talented, and awesome guitarists. I personally prefer Metallica because of their style and because KH is my favorite guitarist.
From the point Rust In Peace came out Megadeth was better than Metallica, because that was the point Metallica sold out. Megadeth really only had two albums when they sold out and Metallica had four. Right now Megadeth is heavier than Metallica, just as proof compare Endgame to Death Magnetic and St.Anger.

You do know that heavier isn't always better right? And about Metallica selling out, well (i never thought i'd say this), i'm kinda glad they made The Black Album and Load, at least thay have more diversity.

ORLY? Then Mayhem or Canniball Corpse are some of the best metal bands ever. Oh and btw, Load didn't suck, Reload and St. Anger weren't very good, but Load is.
Have to go with Metallica because they have made trasitions that others are afraid to try. [Garage inc.] And have proven beyond any doubt that they have the talent and the drive to overcome ANY obstacle that gets in thier way.
