I decided to do this, so I could touch up on my Latin skills. I have written a poem in Latin, and I invite fellow bilinguals(or further) to do the same. And even if you don't actually know another language, feel free to join in and use a translator.
This poem is suckish, but what do you expect?

In cruor perfusus terra praelium.
Somes erant sparsum totus super.
Tamen victus fleo.
Silenti etc erant nunquam aevum.

Vos fleo, vos fleo, ut operor Ego
Poena subsisto intemporaliter
Monumentum quod poena subsisto, tamen nostrum amicitia es absentis
Tamen sententia nostrum lacrima cruor sicco.

Which, roughly translated to English, means:

In blood soaked battle land
Bodies were scattered all around
Still the living weep
The dead were never age

You cry, you cry, so do I
The pain remains forever
Memories and pain remain, however our friends are absent
Despite thought, our tears clean the blood

I'm pretty sure that poem just broke my record for Worst Poem Ever. Only about two lines rhymed, and none of them had the same syllabic length. But what can you expect, it's in a different language. But the English version actually isn't that bad of a prose. Also; excuse the grammar. Grammar Nazi Moat is sitting in a corner sobbing(fleo). In the "Silenti etc erant nunquam aevum" line, I actually wanted to put "vita", life, instead of "aevum", age, but I had to use something that at least remotely rhymed with &quotraelium", and the two had almost similar endings. Lol.
Anyways, somebody want to show me and my (nonexistant) foreign language poetry writing skills up?

You're learning Latin? Cool stuff. My area has no classical language classes around.

Yup.
Cool stuff

Thanks. Too bad it's dead =(

That sucks. Have you tried teaching yourself with an online translator? I used to do that. It works okay, but you don't really learn sentence structure or grammar or anything. You'd have to know the word itself off the bat, as opposed to like, creating your own sentence.

That's Old Modern English at best. Old English would be more like this:

Cnut cyning gret his arcebiscopas and his leod-biscopas and Ãurcyl eorl and ealle his eorlas and ealne his þeodscype, twelfhynde and twyhynde, gehadode and læwede, on Englalande freondlice.

And no, it's not similar to Modern English. Middle English, maybe, but Old English is barely understandable at best, and downright incomprehensible normally.

Latin is such a romantic language...

To be able to write poetry in another language would be hard as it relies on your vocabulary in that language.

Apart from English which I speke and writ goodly well, I can speak a bit of Spanish...but I don't think that I could write poetry though.

Keep up the good work!

You're telling me! That poem kicked me up one wall and down the other.

*scratches head*
Humer in English sentance funny. =D Spanish is cool though, my dad speaks it.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks.

I could, however, write in KiZombie.
Zambahs barg harmanz,
barra bang-bang man bam mah,
an zambah gah bang.
An epic haiku about the life-and-death struggle of humans and zombies, written from first-person. :

Mm...hmmm. Made-up languages are okay too, I suppose. Nice haiku.

Ah! How dare you suggest KiZombie is made up! I had to bargain its dictionary from a one-eyed gypsie in Homburg, in exchange for my little finger...Blahblahblahyackitysmackityyoodledoodle.

"What's the big deal?"
"What's the big deal? WHAT...IS...THE...BIG...DEAL?! Do you know what happened when they forgot his blueberries at the convention in San Antonio?!"
"Uhmm...no..."
"It's how I got a stutter, and a wooden pinky toe! That comb-over's gonna be the least of your problems *mutter*....Now p-please, let me get in there and save all of our asses!"

Haha, your little finger exchange just made me think of that. Kudos to those who know what it's from.

How is it romantic? It's impossible to speak properly because it's dead.

I'm sorry, but why are you pointing that out? Are you trying to show us up by correcting nonexistant mistakes or something? Because I really can't see a motive for you to say that. And yes, I know that many people are bilinguals. I said that, because the majority of the people on this site are not only American, they're fairly young. And they have not yet had a chance to learn new languages. 'Invite fellow bilinguals' does not mean that I think bilinguals are the minority. It's a request, well, it's part of a request anyway.
So, are you going to write or not?

How's a different Latin poem sound?

e-thay ing-thay at's-thay est-bay in-ay ig-Pay atin-Lay
en-Whay it-ay omes-cay o-tay oems-pay imed-tay
Is-ay at-thay ou-yay eed-nay ot-nay orry-way uch-may:
our-Yay ines-lay ill-way always-ay yme-rhay.

Gah, just lost the post...

You're cheating Parsat...ig-Pay atin-Lay is-ay easy-lay.

Hmm...

Mio padre es uno vaca,
Y mia madre es una perra.
Yo soy un gato blanco,
¿Por qué es mi pez bizarra?

Roughly translates to:

My father is a cow,
and my mother is a dog.
I am a white cat.
Why is my fish bizarre?

If you use Freetranslation.com it has a slightly different word for 'Dog' which isn't really SFW.

(Bet the upside down ? won't work...)

Okay.... I know it wasn't needed, but I just felt like saying it. I'm sorry!! *Sighs and walks away holding back the useless tears that are desperately wanting to fall on the plastic, black keyboard of despair!*
