Alright so there has been this whole catholic vs athiesm thing going on with armor games, and this is probably gonna be sticking to more of the faith side of things (which i know alot of athiests just cant handle) but ill try to make things a bit more interesting.
So basically this thread isn't supposed to be about some satanic worshipping crap. Thats just messed up. I basically want to see armor games side of this, do you believe that demons actually exist. And by exist, i mean like ghost or angel exist. So basically, are they with us. (wow sounds really bad I know).
Anyways what got me into all this demon stuff, is basically a dream ive had... For 10 days in a row now. Involving some sort of evil supernatural presence. Something evil attacking an innocent person.
So let me discuss my view on all this demonological stuff you've so far been reading about.
K so my take on all this demon crap has originated back to when there were pagans worshipping gods. They believed by sacrificing part of their community (normally humans) that they in turn would recieve bountiful whether, amazing crops, free of disease, or even cure sickness. This of course lasting many many years. Alot of the time, it would continue due to complete fluke (or possibly even the pagan gods would grant them this... gasp). Which also brings me to talk about the christianic holiday Christmas. Yea, basically as much as i hate saying it, this isn't Jesus' birthday. It was most likely in the summer or late spring. The reason the Church made the 25th of december his birthday was to cover up the pagan winter solstace ritual. Which was sacrificing (ive read like 4 different views on this, so its kinda whishy washy when it comes to the exact amount) either 1 person, or a man and a woman, or a virgin.. Yeeaaa messed up. So now instead of celebrating the sacrifice of people, we celebrate Jesus' birth and time with our families. Good job Christianity!!!
Alright so now comes all these other generations, who base there lore off these pagans rituals. For example the incubus, the reapers, evil water demons, wendigo... Ancient lore, based on sitings, and communites trying to please the gods with rituals (not like sacrifcies, but more like burning certain branches, flowers, animals, etc...) sometimes also including blood of people.. This is about the time where these methods became linked with witchraft. Alot of people mixing the two up.. But as you can see its very easy too..
As generations passed these stories came more and more lossely based. The reapers (collectors of souls) became the Grim Ripper (bringer of death). Wendigos probably became the big foor. Water demons, probably became seas monsters accosiated with loc ness... o.0 yea i know weird huh???
K well anyways these demons, actually evil figures were pertrayed way back, even in cave drawings. These evil dwelliing spirites that would have horns on the head, you know like just basically hellish things. Now again this is very loosely based stuff, so it could be anything for all we know, as these cave men could have active imaginations =P.
Throughout the centuries there has been again lore and talk about this evil dwelling over the earth. Examples: The boogy man, that thing under your bed, or even more commonly that thing in your basement. These all originated from ancient european lore. Communities who would have one go missing, would talk about one of those mentioned above. Which of course would get passed around...
Now then these demons, which probably originated from pagans, got passed down through the ages and now christianity has taken it to be the thing they get rid... *exoricism* lol... Anyways its not, and doesn't have anything to do with christianity. Just the catholic church wants to get rid of that which is evil. Its understandable. Classic case? Emily rose... which of course isn't her real name, its annaliese michel. Im pretty sure you've heard of the movie.
Anyways i've talked about it. The short: Demons originated from pagans not catholicism. They've been passed down for centuries with many possible sitings, and even possessions. I just want to know what you think..
PS. I was extremely bored, and decided to post this humongus post.. plus i looooooovvvvvveeeeee to type *sarcasm*.
PSS.. Dont call me crazy, i already know that
PSSS... Dont call me a satanist because ive already told you its something from pagan times... before christ... gasp... call me a paganist =0
PSSSS.... This was the shortest version i could post on all this stuff mention, there is ALOT out there on this stuff. So if your seriously interested i can get you some sites...
I believe they exist becaues God exist and if u think anything else u probably will be burning in hell with them.
You are making a lotta assumptions there about a lotta things.
You assume God exists - PROVE IT You assume Demons exist - PROVE IT You assume Hell exists - PROVE IT You assume I will be there - Well bugger me if I already have plans for after I'm dead - they involve decomposition and detritus feeders recycling my bodily matter.
Ho STOP! no reason for being rude Avorne maybe he is religous(how the hell do you spell this) he believes in GOD so what let him believe its not your problem
HAHAHA. The forum generally might be meant to be a happy place but have you seen the topic for discussion in this thread? Demons? Now, unless we're talking about the guardian/good spirits from ancient cultures mythology then it ain't a particularly happy subject is it?
Well, considering that this is called 'World Events, Politics, Religion, etc.' It obviously is.
I have my own beliefs about the (lack of any) afterlife. I don't like it when someone else makes a fallacious and frankly annoying statement about me - I will respond and it might be angrily. However, I responded to him simply asking for proof. THE CAPITALS were to emphasize the fact that none of the things he said were backed up by any evidence at all and so I would only believe him on presentation of real, verifiable proof.
I like the idea of demons coming through a doorway straight from Hell and possessing the living for whatever means they want to. Sounds good doesn't it? Makes for good TV or a good book.
But yes, I do think there are demons among us. And no, I'm not a Christian. I do however think there is stuff along the lines of a heaven and hell.

Yes it does make for good stories, but the question is does it make for reality?

What evidence do you have to indicate this to b true?
What evidence do you have to indicate this to b true?
There is "evidence" mainly through eye-witness events, but because we can not test people's testimonies, they are unreliable. Even if we put them on a lie-detection test, they convinced themselves that what they saw was the work of supernatural events. This makes it difficult for both sides to argue existence/absence of demons/ghosts.
I like to think demons are not exactly religious based, but maybe just a creature from...somewhere else??? Maybe just a entity humans can't begin to comprehend.
