ok, i believe that 2012 is not the end of the world. i have a couple of reasons why it wont end then ( or ever ) 1) read me (the guy is not me) 2) read me too 3) these articles prove that the world isnt going to end in 2012 because not only is it improbable but 2012 isnt even the last day on the mayan calender (its just the last day in the year that just happens to last 5000 real years) 4) YAY NOW WE CAN STOP FLOODING THE COMMUNITY FORM WITH 2012 stuff 5) read me too(not as important)
Well... it kinda is. Its the last day of the current cycle, or period, or whatever they called it. All it means in their calendar is that something is going to change.

ok first that is true that its the last day in the cycle but were your wrong is that it will be the end of the world

I never said that, I said change will happen(according to the Mayan calender). When a cycle ends something big happens that changes the world forever, but the world does not end.
If the Mayans could predict the World was going to end that accurately don't you think they'd have figured out the Spanish where not their friends? Obviously nothing is going to happen besides from people acting crazy. I'd expect to see a cult or two spring up and December will be a busy month for law enforcement. January on the other hand will be a busy month for lawyers, repo men and the like.

Does it really mean something big is going to happen? Isn't there a chance that it means they ran out of room?

While I personally don't believe the Mayans had any idea what the hell they were talking about, I have a gripe with this argument, namely because they couldn't run out of room because their calendar was cyclical.
The only thing that their calender has going for it is the fact that you can find in history things there calender said were going to happen. Well, they have vague descriptions of things, but they match up with historical events. Also if I remember correctly the last time a cycle ended something big did happen, but I can't remember what it was.
