Instead of the normal Action - Adventure - Arcade - Shooting - Puzzle&skill - Strategy - Sports and the Misc.
Why not add a Fusion like Action - Adventure or how about Role playing or Strategy shooting .. These are just some ideas .. Feel free to share what other suggestions you have here .
Only new category that I can think of would be "tower defense" games, being the most popular form of strategic games. But there's not enough of them to form a category, they can all fit in a two pages. I like the existing classification, it's pretty much self explanatory.
"Fusion" games are far and few inbetween, and having all those extra categories would make AG less user-friendly. There are too many different combinations for all of them to be taken into account.
As stated by Milos, the current categories are good enough. RPG is pretty much the same as adventure, and Defense is basically the equivalent of strategy. Adding more categories that are covered by the current ones would be redundant.
Lets face the truth not all games are placed in the correct category
Like what?
If you haven't noticed yet, AG has set categories as general as possible without any of them conflicting with each other. It's pretty simple to know that if if I want to find an RPG, I would look in "adventure", and if I want to find TDs, I would look in "strategy". If we made too many categories, 1) We would have to click every which way just to find a particular type of game, and 2) the stock of the game libraries would be spread thin.
Unless the game is exactly half action and half adventure, there's no reason to do this. The game will almost always be more of one than the other. If it's more actiony, it goes in the action category.
Let's say a game fell under the "Arcade-Shooting" category. Would an entire section be made just for that one game? I think not. That goes for any of the "in-between" games, because there will always be at least a few games from each category that somehow mix with a different category. No point in creating seperate sections for every single combination, is there?
I think... no wait... I'm sure that the current categories are sufficient to find what you're looking for, plus... you stumble upon some games you would have normally passed by and discover some nice jewls exist hidden in the plains of AG!
Besides... what would the fusion categories be like:
Too generic and random. It would degrade AG's image of a noble, Middle Ages type of website. Even though zombie games are pretty amazing (Sonny FTW!), an entire section devoted to them would be excessive.
I think a better idea would be like when you click on something it would open a little sub-catagories like under Shooting: 1st person, 3rd person, tower, etc.
LOL I was wondering where you might kick in this suggestion Danny! Good one! =D

How would that become a benefit for a gamer to find a game?
The problem here is simple... more categories will become a forest of immense proportions that would more likely get people to leave AG for being unclear and unorganised... and that's something not wanted!
Like I said, the intention and idea were good, but somehow not doable since it would definitely become a mess and that's what should be avoided to keep this site great!
