Well, Armorgames IS a flash-based gaming website, so developers generally use flash. You can generate so much more from it that java-based games are pretty much outdated. Other than that, I really don't have much more to say :/

Java is the kind of coding you use for smaller things, like an upload function or an applet. I've never seen a Java game, as they are pretty uncommon (Didn't know they existed). And as Flash is the norm, I wuld stick to it.
Of course you have to buy the expensive program, but that's the thing...
Umm, so what is this about? I don't really get it.
I think he wants some sort of Java thing on AG (Though what for and what it is he didn't say).
There was one created around 2001 or so called Slime Volleyball, which was this uber-primitive volleyball game where you were some semicircular blob and you had to try and hit the ball to the other side to beat your opponent, a different-colored semicircular blob. This game came out 20 years after Pacman did, yet Pacman was still more advanced.
So that's why we don't have Java games. Because Java isn't a very useful program for game creation, and AG prefers games with quality over games with blobs playing volleyball.

If I'm not mistaken Runescape is a Java based game. I could be wrong, though.
And there are a lot more. The quality isn't that different in the hands of a decent Java scripter.
Anyways, that sounds like a good idea to me. It will allow more games.

You are right.
The reason why Java can't go along here is because this site was built as a Flash platform, more people make games Flash and the staff learned how to code with Flash, not Java.

They aren't as common as Flash. I've played some offline Java games and some browser based ones.
javascript. most things on internet now a days are addobe flash player and shock play as well. runescape used to be javascript and then they have that big upgrade then it turned it into addobe for better grapics
All the games Jagex has made is used with java and most can be found at funorb.com.
I think flash is a lot more common. And the only real difference I know is that Java has a right click. I'm sure we'd love right clicks, but I don't understand why you want javascript to be uploaded here.

You're right, it's an applet.
I also know that Yahoo Mail is written in Java.

That's a good point. Brings this thread discussion to a sort of close.
I think flash is a lot more common.
It is, because you can make games easier and better with it, and it is constantly being updated. Also, I think it has more options and you can do much deeper coding than Java. And Java applets require a certificate most of the time (You get it on Runescape) while Flash doesn't.

Still... what EnterOrion suggests is true and a course worth exploring! If Java were to be accepted as well, more games could be uploaded to AG and that would attract more people, plus... AG would be one of the few site then that accepts Java based games!
They would become a pioneering standard in this field then! =D (assuming there are not a lot of other websites out there that accept Java...)
That's based on my experience and current knowledge on those things because I am just a player not a maker .
Better still evening the odds out Flash seems to be on the winning side not Java but if there is a major breakthrough in Java and ArmorGames is eligible for Java uploads then like what most of you said ArmorGames could be a pioneer in Java games but that is if there will be a breakthrough .
-ArmorGames should explore whether they should allow JavaScipt games to be uploaded or not, -and ArmorGames should think of the possibility of becoming the pioneer in this field! =D
