the rules are easy. i will ask a question about ANYTHING pokemon. i'll start off easy, with bonus questions which will be a little harder, and go up very slightly in difficulty each time. absolutely NO cheating. this is ALL pokemon trivia. that includes the series, any games, and any movies. now i am not an "obsessive" rank fan, so some questions i won't ask...but i tune in every saturday at 6:00 AM central to catch the new episode... sometimes i miss it, though...anyway, first post containing the right answer gets the point. kind of pokemon ping-pong style, first to get 5 points wins a match, and first person to win 3 matches wins a game. once every page(excluding the first page), i will put a list of each player and how many points, matches and games they have won, a "lace" note and general acheivements in this format:
New player(s)! name(s): player 4 player 1: 2 point(s), 1 match(s), 0 game(s)3rd player 2: 4 point(s), 2 match(s), 0 game(s)2nd player 3: 3 point(s), 1 match(s), 1 game(s)1st player 4: 0 point(s), 0 match(s), 0 game(s)4th most games ever (pretty self-explanatory): player 3 best pokemon fan(the person in first place): player 3 worst pokemon fan(the person in last place): player 4 most bonuses (the most bonus questions) player 2 most un-officials(questions not asked by me): player 1
as you can obviously notice, after a match is won points are set to 0, as demonstrated by player's 1 and 2, and after a game is won both matches and points are set to 0, as demonstrated by player 3. if a player does not post here for 3 days, i will remove them from the next scoreboard, excluding the "most games" achievement. the new player notice will be removed on the next scoreboard. the "worst pokemon fan" achievement does not apply to "new" players. people are free to ask other trivia questions separate from my question, but answering it will not yield any points. however answering the most of these will give you an achievement. last thing: if you have any questions about the game, DON'T post it here. post a comment on my profile and ask away! only 5 questions per comment, as i'm sure i covered a lot in this one post. i will respond by same way; posting a comment on your profile. i will ignore comments with: more than 5 questions, asking the answer to a question, and asking if they can post a question. asking that, or asking more than 5 questions, would mean you DIDN'T read the entire first post, so remember to read the first post on every thread before posting. I'll start
how many pokemon are there originally?
BONUS: what is the final pokemon? (hint: team rocket tried to steal it once while it was in egg form)
okay i'm getting everything from a different source now. check here if you think i'm wrong about something: http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Wiki. and no cheating.
question: what electric and fire pokemon have no evolution until the 4th generation
Electabuzz and Magmar. (Who both gained baby-volutions in the second generation, Elekid and Magby.)
Their 4th gen evolutions are Electivire and Magmortar.

Awesome, wiki power. I'd have recommended Bulbapedia, though, but the one you've found is probably good enough.
(I don't check any wiki before replying, btw. Though I do check if I'm right after I've posted...)
I have this strange urge to be annoying now, thanks to that flaw (I actually have that guide) Technically the legendary birds are located in the Orange Islands, which is a region for themselves. Mewtwo is not officially a species, as it, by being the only one of its kind, is a legendary that only scientists have seen. Those scientists that made it. Basically it is just a manipulated version of mew. And while we are at mew. Mew is something near the first pokemon ever created, and the root to both human and pokemon existence. But sure, we can be boring about it. As Zophia said, 150. Just listen to the pokerap. Mew technically belongs with the second generation, so does togepi. \\\\o/ Btw, that guide is super flawed, just so you know.
I really don't see how Mew should be in the second generation. If you think back to the first generation, you've got bulbasaur, charmander and squirtle (plus evolutions) #1-9, then in the second generation there's Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.
It makes more sense, to start the new generation with the next group of starting pokemon. Rather than starting it with Mew, who isn't even available in the second gen games.
question: how many 5th generation pokemon are there?
BONUS: name them.
Last I heard, only two had been revealed. Dark type, illusion fox based.
The basic's Japanese name is Zorua, the evolution's Japanese name is Zoruark.
@JoshDragon: The quote button. It is a helpful tool to organize your posts. Or just regular quotation marks, they work too. x_x (You know, " At first I thought 'that really sounds like Cenere', then I realized you were quoting...

Mew was programmed into the first gen games and is usually counted to the Kanto dex, however, back in the day, it was pretty much the last of the first pokemon to be revealed. And sorta marked the beginning of the new ones' arrival. True that it doesn't really belong with the second gen, thoguh.
Am kinda wondering why Ho-oh is a second gen, since it's in the very first anime episode.

Would have been too many legendaries if Ho-Oh had made gen 1.

Nah, that'd have been ... 5? Plus Mewtwo (and Dragonite and Arcanine and a few others if one likes the looser definition of legendary pokemon).
Compared to the monstrous pile they shoved into 4th gen, Ho-oh could easily have tagged along for the 1st gen without it being too many. This is an argument based purely on opinion, though, so if you disagree I shan't try to push my view further. It's not like we can change their National Dex order or anything by debating it. :P
Mew technically belongs with the second generation
Mew was the very first trademark registered by Gamefreak, even before "Pocket monsters". Burn in the face of my logic!

Think about game cartridge storage space. The original GB had a tiny amount of memory, compared to the DS carts, which can hold megabytes upon megabytes of data.

That trademark thing was already brought up previously. And, err, don't ... try to make a "BURN" worthy response, it makes you sound mean. :/ Particularly when the point you're trying to make has already been discussed. Twice. You can't burn anyone when pointing something out for the third time. Your opinion and knowledge is welcome, but try to be mature about pointing out where people are wrong.
And Ho-oh was present in the first anime episode, yet not part of the first generation, so the "this existed first, therefore it belongs here" isn't necessarily a good argument...

I'll admit my info on game storage space is fairly limited, but I'm pretty sure they'd still have room for a good handful more than 151. What with all the glitches that occupied available memory spaces and all... I see your point, but I doubt 1 more would have exceeded the space they had. I could easily be wrong, though.
Ho-oh, Lugia, and... Uhm. I don't think there was a version exclusive Legendary for Crystal, but it had Suicune on the box, if that's what you're referring too.

The anime was started in the planning stages for Generation 2. Pokemon was massive back then, so naturally, having a mysterious Pokemon at the start of the series was sure to boost ratings.
As for the mascot, it was Suicune. I loved that box-art. i think I still have the game somewhere... I only caught all 251 after 6 years and a LOT of trading. The only thing harder to do is to get a Celebei in Gen 3. You have to purify all 48 mons in Colluseum, but there was something else you had to do which I forget... meh. I only got all of them in Emerald last year.
Nobody of you knows anything about pokemon? The pokemon, if you don't count togepi Where actually 151 and that because of the pokemon MISSINGNO, the pokemon that existed only in the blue and red pokemon games. Togepi is in the Johto.
