I say that should be an option. It has been recognized as a country in multiple treaties, and it has it's own national lacrosse team. that totally constitutes a country.

Could you tell us where that is? I haven't really heard of it... And has it been recognized by United Nations? It's not in their list, therefore it isn't really counted...

No offense, but it seems you are the only person who knows of it on this site (do you live there?).

What treaties?

The Iroquois now live in what is the United States of America. They are officially under the US government. The confederacy as an independent state is no more.

You can't have flags displayed here if they aren't recognized by the UN as sovereign states

The flags of Abkhazia, Transnistria, Somaliland, Nagorno-Karabakh and all the other unrecognized states/micronations throughout the world could be included, but then again they aren't officially recognized by the UN.

How do you know so much about this place? And like they said, I don't think the UN has reconized them as a country so it isn't a flag.

hmmm...i thought Iroquois lived in Canada and the name is given by french people, but thats just me.....and all the Canadian history O.o

The Principality of Sealand Is also recognised as a country. they even have their own currency, and multiple sports teams including kung fu, and mini golf. They should also be included.

I think what Corneth is suggesting is a viable question, but it will most likely become a world politics issue over time with questions raised such as:

-What are countries? -Should only those recognized as sovereign by international law be called countries? -Should also those that have a population, a flag and a national anthem be recognized as countries? -Should the people that live there first, have the rights to name the country and have all benefits included with that right? Etc...

I think this thread should be placed in the World Events, Politics, Religion, Etc. Forum... because that's what this discussion is leading to...

I asked for a Serbian flag about six months ago and nothing. Flags aren't getting updated any time soon.

The web developers have been slow on everything. I figure when they do get around to doing something, you should ask them directly.

Somaliland and other unrecognized states have sports teams, but they still aren't countries because they are not internationally recognized. By the way, Somaliland is registered with the NF Board, a football/soccer league for unrecognized countries/states.

You are talking about the International Luge Federation, because that is what comes up when I search the term "FIL"?

I can't find anything on the first, but the second and third treaties were signed so long ago that they don't hold any validity.

Andthere are about 7,334,935 people in Serbia..... I agree with serbia getting a flag cos it's a country. But at the end of the day there are more important things for AG to deal with (though I must say it si pretty glitch free at the moment). Although there is an obvious difference between the Iroquois "country" and micronations like seaworld and "Lovely" (which has 50,000 members) I think if you let one have it's own flag then we're gonna end up with requests for them all etc.
