Widely viewed as dead two months ago, the Senate-passed bill cleared the House on a 219-212 vote. Republicans were unanimous in opposition, joined by 34 dissident Democrats.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said the legislation awaiting the president's approval would extend coverage to 32 million Americans who lack it, ban insurers from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions and cut deficits by an estimated $138 billion over a decade.
I have faith this Healthcare Bill can become a good thing. But don't blame or rad on people for fearing Socialism. It's always been a fear in America. Socialism is only lesser form of Communism. And America is afraid of going down that path. (Cold War anyone?) If you like socialism so much give reasons why...
It's about time that I can get insurance. I've been denied by almost a dozen companies due to pre-existing conditions.
48% of doctors quitting their profession (poll)
I imagine about 3 doctors quitting over this. No one is going to leave their career just because more people have insurance. It would be like me quitting teaching if they gave me more students. It's dumb, selfish, and foolish.
[/quote] What ever happened to the 'don't spend if you can't pay' idea?
That is a great point. Conservitism in general has fallen too far by the way side in every aspect of life. If you want a new big screen and dont have the money for it, you cut your spending in other areas and save to get it. You dont go find the first creditor who will approve you for a card just so you can get it right now. Politics in general are so frustrating anymore it sickens me to talk about it. Just a bunch of finger pointing, whining, and party allegence. I'm from Nebraska and I want to punch Ben Nelson in the face for not voting the way the people who elected him wanted him to vote all because it went against his party. I don't need the government to make me buy health care from them, I have it already. They can piss off with this whole thing, I'm tired of it. Politics are B.S. in general and you cant trust any of them any more, either paty for that matter. Everyone anymore can be bought, and thats sick.
Did you quote the begining of your post? Besause if you did it is polite to highlight it then click th button that says "Quote" right above your typing area. Just FYI. You are new so don't feel bad, I was the same way.
The US is ranked 37th in overall healthcare quality among developed nations, and we're also the only developed nation without government-sponsored healthcare. There *has* to be a correlation there. This wasn't the best-executed bill ever, but it's at least a step in the right direction.
