My second enDice game is being released today called enDice Complete. I've been getting a lot of requests to open up my games for people to make their own levels. For enDice Complete, I included a level editor and have decided to make a Players Pack. Anyone who wants to participate, follow the instructions below:
Instructions: 1. Beat any 5 levels to unlock the Level Editor in enDice Complete. 2. Make a puzzle using the Editor. 2. Click 'Save' at the bottom-right of the editor screen. 3. Copy the 'Save Code' in the white text box. 4. Paste the code in a reply to this topic.
Rules: 1. Puzzles MUST be solvable. 2. Create as many puzzles as you like, I may choose more than one puzzle per person. 3. Puzzles may either be submitted here, on my Armor Games profile, or to my email: soapaintnice[at]gmail.com
The Players Pack will showcase about 40 - 50 puzzles from this topic. It will also show a link to the Armor Games profile of the puzzle's creator, if you post it here. Let me know if you don't want the link going to your profile. I don't have a date yet on when the enDice Players Pack is coming out. It all depends on how many puzzles are posted.
Almost 50 puzzles have been submitted so far between here and my email. I'm impressed from what I've seen so far, but there are some things I should go over.
If your level is chosen I may be making some slight adjustments to it. For example: - If a puzzle isn't centered in the middle of the screen, I'll center it. - If your puzzle has dice hanging around that do not interact with the other dice, I may remove that dice or make some kind of edit to it. By "interact" I mean push, get pushed, jump, or block other dice. - If a dice has more moves than it really needs, I'm going to take some moves away from it.
None of the above will get your puzzle disqualified. The puzzle will just be altered slightly.
Based on what I've seen so far, here are some tips: - Don't put too many dice in your puzzles, visually it's overwhelming and exhausting for someone playing it. - Give your puzzle some visual form ex: A face, heart, flower, dog, a pattern, etc. - Don't add dice that make no interaction with other dice in some way (like pushing, jumping, or blocking). - Forcing the player to move different dice on every move makes a puzzle more difficult to figure out. This can be a good thing, the expert levels of enDice Complete take advantage of this. - Giving dice more moves than they need can be tedious to the player.
That's all that I can think of at the moment. The response has been great so far. It's looking like there may definitely be a Players Pack
