Pornography,(books, movies and magazines) that require adults, over age 18, to show ID to buy it should be legal and good luck banning it. This is considered art in all of those forms and protected under the 1st amendment like others have mentioned before.
It's a heavy burden but it's the parents who control what their children are watching, reading...
Speaking of children, this is what disgusts me. The child pornography rings that kidnap, abuse, starve, etc. need to be shut down, permanently.
How to police this industry over the internet is up to people who are much smarter than me. No one wants their rights/freedoms infringed on with cyberspys. But where do we,(the people) allow the law makers to draw the line? I don't have an answer...but I would like one.
Uhm... Why? If someone wants to take up a job getting naked for a camera or having sex then be my guest. It's like telling the whole world you're nothing but a prostitute of either gender. I say no to the illegalization of pornography.
I find that a horrible reason. If the majority wanted murder legal, would you legalize it?
If a good majority like 2/3's or a bigger fraction of the people want it then I believe yes it can be legal. I'm a firm believer of what Abraham Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address, "government of the people, by the people, for the people". But it isn't likely that will every happen.
Its not the government trying to be unfair and keep the "cool" things from the kids. Its about Maturity. Can you handle it? Will you go running off trying to do the same thing with all the girls you see? Is it real?
Sexuality often get's stigmatized, especially in America. The more you tell a teenager not to do something the more they are likely to want to do it, especially when there body is in overdrive telling them to do it. Make it more of a non issue and they will be less likely to take interest. Then couple this with teaching them how to responsibly conduct them self.
Give a kid pornography, he'll try to have sex with someone.
Give a kid porn and they will sit in a locked room all day and...
