I haven't seen a formal thread for this, so here's one. What TV shows do you currently watch, if any?

I only spend about three hours or so in front of the TV per week, but since computers are more the go these days, we'll count TV shows you stream online too. Since I live in Australia, though, first, internet sucks. Second, the stuff you see on free-to-air that comes from other countries is about half a year behind, and we get inundated with repeats.

Anyway, the shows I watch are:

1) Top Gear (BBC UK). With each season, the iconic British hoons go through even more dangerous, expensive stunts and challenges to the point that this really isn't a motoring show anymore, it's about Clarkson, Hammond and May and the crazy **** they do in motor cars. I just saw the Bolivia special, and it actually honestly made me think that buying a crap bucket of bolts and attempting to drive it through the South America rainforest, mountain passes and desert might make for a dead adventure, as long as I didn't die from drowning, dehydration, falling five-hundred meters off the world's most dangerous highway, or extreme altitude sickness. Which I probably would, so no, it's not a good idea.

2) Burn Notice- my other guilty blokey bloke indulgence. Guns, cars, fights, big explosions, dangerous criminals and hot swimsuits sum it up. Oh, and while the formula harkens back to the "guy can solve any problem with a little help of his sidekicks" of old, there's a certain Grand Theft Auto feel to the plot structure. Clever marketing.

3) So You Think You Can Dance (America). Which isn't currently on but when it is, I'll be watching! There's an Australian version but seriously, the American show is better. And really, the guys on this show are phenomenally good. Unbelievably good.

4) Iron Chef (Japan). All the episodes seem to have been filmed over ten years ago! Sometimes genius, sometimes madness unfolds in the kitchen all at the behest of a crazy guy who wears crazy outfits and makes crazy faces. But the real drawcard are the guests brought in to challenge the legendary Iron Chefs, all of them among, if not the world's best. The formula of themed cook-offs under pressure has been emulated the world around, but nothing so far has topped this example. (If you're a foodie/aspiring gastronomist, you might want to also check out Heston's Feasts, because Heston Blumenthal is also a mad genius.)

5) Live coverage of the F1 series. Because unlike the period following Senna's death until Schumacher's retirement, there are eight drivers who could seriously contend for the title, which makes every race actually exciting.

Right, those are my picks. Over to you lot!

I nearly never watch TV, but when I do it's usually just Simpsons, and the Swedish talent show (Talang 2010) whenever it's on.

Oh jeez, you got "Talent" too? I was hoping only Denmark was tortured by that (Actually I was hoping Denmark wasn't tortured by that too).
This will one of the reasons I don't watch TV in general very often.

1) Both Iron Chefs(Japan and America). I'm a food maniac - I got a Jose Garces cookbook for easter and I've made dinner for my family quite a bit. It's really amazing to see what iron chef geniuses like Sakai or Batali can come up with, and the challengers are also interesting to watch. This is like, the only show I consistently watch.

2) Tosh.0. I know it's perhaps the most crude comedy show on TV, but it's just so goddam funny. Tosh delivers a stroboscopic mix of high and low comedy about idiotic internet clips, and from the hilarious 'web redemptions' (giving a second chance to people like Chris Crocker, Ms. Teen South Carolina, the afro ninja) to the sometimes brutally funny video breakdowns(when he takes a closer look and step-by-step tries to explain the video), this show is really a must-watch. I'd recommend at least going to the website and watching the 'detachable door,' 'motorcycle pastor breakdown,' and 'Latarian the hoodrat's web redemption' videos.

3) The entire palladia channel. It's a music channel featuring live concerts, etc. and it's always amazing to be able to watch Crossroads musical festivals all the time.

4) The history channel show 'Pawn Stars.' It's about three guys and a friend who own and work at a pawn shop. They choose the most interesting buys(anything from supposed Soviet ICBM launch keys to an old electroshock therapy machine to old and rare musical instruments and weapons) to show and give info about. I enjoy it because of all the interesting historical facts you learn - a lot of the things they get are really amazing. Also, the stoner fall guy, Chumlee is pretty funny, and so is the grandpa of the owning family, the Old Man.

5) Finally, the murder mystery series Bones. It has all the intrigue and well-engineered murders of CSI, but with good characters and great dialogue. Nuff said.

Uh yeah, I totally intended to put this in the Popular media section, I just, like, totally accidentally put it in the Tavern instead <_<

Oh jeez, you got "Talent" too? I was hoping only Denmark was tortured by that (Actually I was hoping Denmark wasn't tortured by that too).

Lol, most countries have something like this. My pet peeve is when the 11 year old Asian kid comes on and plays Fantasie Impromptu on the piano, which ALWAYS happens. Because every 11 year old Asian kid plays the piano. Like me when I was 11. And my brother when he was 11. And my sister when she was 11. In fact, my brother made quite a bit of mileage out of that piece when he was 11... you get the idea. The really precocious 11 year old kids will attempt La Campanella, and it will sound invariably forced because 11 year old hands can't hack Liszt unless they're literally mutant.

Anyway, that's my talent show pet peeve.

As for Mythbusters, if I'm feeling really lazy, I might glance at it if it looks like a really big explosion might happen (e.g. the case of the water heating cistern rocket), but the team probably already get enough grief about "one trial does not make a good sample space upon which to test replicability" from backyard scientists.

The other show I would watch if it were currently on is Futurama, but since my sister is the big fan, I can hold out until I watch it on DVD.

The other show I would watch if it were currently on is Futurama, but since my sister is the big fan, I can hold out until I watch it on DVD.

1) The Wire. A quasi Dickensian depiction of American society, combined with a sense of authenticity you could only ever achieve with using real lawyers, cops, dealers and dope fiends for many of the cast members.

2) True Blood. It becoming mainstream wil be the downfall of the show. Series 3 is not something I have high hopes for. However it's the first show I've seen for a long while which has original and cleverly written characters; they are all stereotypes on the surface of it, but nothing is what it seems as they eventually reveal themselves to be unique to all else.

3) Ross Kemp in Afghanistan. He would almost be a parody of himself if he weren't so painfully honest about what he is doing. His familiarity with Brits and down to earth qualities make servicemen and Afghans alike open up to him in a way a BBC or CNN reporters could never manage. The annectdotal style intercut with live firefights make for a fascinating microcosm of the Afghan conflict in general.

Family Guy: Its clever, rude and very very funny. However i must some gags are so rude its unbelivable probably for an older audience but i still love it.

Pushing Daisies: Its the most original tv series ive ever seen, quirky and funny with a great cast and clever script.

You forgot Morimoto! He's the best one on the show (even though he has one of the worst records...).

I think the only shows that I watch that haven't been already mentioned are:

Birdman: attorney at law. Hilarious. All of the running jokes just make this one of the funniest animated comedies ever.

Ugly Americans. It's a little soon to tell, but so far it has been pretty good. The main character is definitly relatable, even though his surroundings are completely ridiculous.

Breaking Bad. This new season is a little boring, but the last two featured some of the best drama to ever reach basic cable.
