Are we truly alive? How do we know if we live if all we know is what is in front of us? Many will claim that we live here and now and that reality is our own unique perception. While this may seem agreeable, it cannot be all that life is, for that would indicate we have no founding, solid view of reality. What does reality, the concept of being alive, and existence really mean?
[quote]I have thought all the time, "what if our whole life that we are living is all just a dream, and we wake up as a baby." How would we have a dream in a dream and be in heaven and still having a dream
All life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real things and those born of inward dreamings, and no cause to value the one above the other.
H.P. Lovecraft
I like this quote a bit, and I think it has relevance.
I would have you consider the following proposal: Are we truly alive? How do we know if we live if all we know is what is in front of us? Many will claim that we live here and now and that reality is our own unique perception. While this may seem agreeable, it cannot be all that life is, for that would indicate we have no founding, solid view of reality. What does reality, the concept of being alive, and existence really mean? Thoughts, comments, feelings.
This is Matrix stuff.
Anderson a hacker was told to follow the white rabbit. Sucked out of the virtual reality he perceived as... real. Acted in the supposeably real one.
Done. So your logic is true, yes, it could be real or not. But the thing is the defination of real is all dependent on how you look at it. Some people say "it's not real" to, what? Money? That's not true, it's a concept we use to justify our pennies and pounds. Simply, it wouldn't mean anything otherwise.
This is reality my friends, it doesn't have to mean anything, it could mean everything. To me it means everything, purely because I do not know of what else might be out there, in our little virtual universe or the Great Dark Beyond, the concept of what we cannot touch, feel, comprehend or know of. Purely why I said the great DARK beyond, you're losing your sense of eyesight, well, not properly using its ability anyway. The point is we cannot ask this question since there is no proof for it, and no proof to disprove it.
Funniest thing that could happen: God is a nutty hacker who created this Matrix and gave himself control over the elements. THAT'S funny!

I have already said that reality is dependant on view point, the problem is that if this is the case for all reality there can be no reality because it flux's from person to person. All things need something fixing them.

I know what you mean I always think about that, maybe this is all just an experiment or movie. Its hard for me to sometimes cope with life during rough times, and I think of that. I also think its a bit insane and weird but anything is possible right?
everything has to be relative to one another, if you look at it in this sense, compared to something metaphysical what we feel and see and taste and hear are in that aspect real. But something that is fake, can seem so real, that it becomes your reality since we set our baseline to what the current state of reality.
The book hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy proposes that earth could be a super computer (in a fictional reality, since in that book reality is defined by arthur dent) we could be cogs, but reality really boils down to what is inputed into your head and how you perceive things.

Just because all people perceive something differently doesn't mean that the thing they're perceiving isn't real. In fact, quite the opposite. If all people are perceiving something, then it is easy to say that all people acknowledge its existence on some level - you can't perceive that which is nonexistent.
