I'm writing a thesis for my english class on why all drugs should be legalized and put on the same level as cigarettes and alcohol (sold, but regulated and taxed accordingly). How do you feel about this? Before you go on a rant saying ALLDRUGSRB4DL0LZ0RZ, remember that the war against them is costing money, and the fact that drugs have been forced into the black market means that screw-overs and rip-offs are handled with violence and murder, rather than in courtrooms. I have more reasons, but I'll wait for the masses to project their opinions.

If drugs were legal then everybody would walk around all high using weird voices."Hey man, wanna smoke some weed?"
"Sure man, that's hot."

The only drug I think should be legal is marijuana. Considering it is less dangerous than modern cigarettes and has no noted long term effects, there is no reason for it to be illegal.

I made a topic about this a long while back. The thread is old, so you may need to find some updated statistics, but feel free to use the base component of the arguments.

*Would you smoke marijuana if it was legalized?

If so...

You don't think for yourself and you use the law to determine your morals.

If not...

*Do you honestly think you are the only person who wouldn't smoke marijuana if it was legalized?

If yes...

You must think pretty highly of yourself to say you're the only person who would not smoke marijuana if it's legalized.

If no...

*How many people do you honestly think will walk around acting like the stereotypical stoner?

If you think a lot of people will...

You should ask yourself how many people you have seen in real life act that way who do smoke marijuana.

My point is this. You don't know anything about marijuana. Most people who smoke it don't act like the stereotype presented in the media. Not only that, but you should really ask yourself "Why is pot bad?" Then do some unbiased research.

If marijuana is legalized, many people will continue to live without smoking it. More people will smoke it, but that's not a bad thing.

If all drugs were made legal, most educated people would stay away from them.

Marijuana is important to legalize because more people are being killed in the Mexican drug war than would be killed by the drug if it was legal. The cartels are worth billions mainly because the marijuana trade has become so risky and so valuable - more hardened criminals get into it, the price gets higher, the cartels get richer, meaner and stronger. Cutting off their funding by legalizing or at least decriminalizing marijuana will deal a huge blow and tone down the violence quickly.

Let me spin you a little story.
A little boy decided to bring brownies to school. He made them up and brought them to school. All the kids thought they were good...REALLY good. Oh wait. Were those my sister's pot brownies? Sorry everyone.
Just Google "Kid brings pot brownies to school". Still say it should be allowed?

Let me spin you another story.

Another little boy packs his own lunch in the morning. He reaches in the fridge and grabs a bottle of juice. Takes it to school, and it has vodka in it.

Is that bad or good luck?

Again, good luck or bad?

Anyways, I think simple possession of a small amount of any drug should be fine. Decriminalized, at least. Large amounts that are very obviously not personal use should be prosecuted accordingly.

And pot should be completely legalized.

I have never done Marijuana in my live but I want it to be legal, heres why:
The goverenment wants to be all powerful (which they are) and dislike anything that they don't know about and that they do NOT have a part of. Marijuana is illegal because the government does not have any jurisdiction on marijuana (Except in New Hampshire) and that is what is pissing them off. The only way that it would become legal is if it was taxed. That is why it is legal in New Hampshire and prostituation is legal in Las Vegas, because they found out how to tax it. There is nothing wrong with either of these, it's just that they don't make money

FallenSky firmly believes that any drug shouldn't be legalized, along with cigarette of course. Drugs affects judgement and boasts numerous consequences on the body's good functioning. The only good point coming from this jurisdiction would be that the government would access all the profits made by these drugs and could reinvest it in domain such as health or education, on the other hand though it makes the exposure to drugs all the more likely. Do we want our childs to live in a world where government avalizes such a thing as drug? That's a moral debate that is not for Fallen to decide, but in either case (cases being that the monopole of drugs should either go to the government or to privates), drugs is not a good thing and will never be, along with alcool and cigarette. There're others way to enjoy life than to clogg your perspective of it.

Is avalize a real word?

FallenSky, if someone can use a drug responsibly, then who cares if it's bad for them? Video games can do a lot of harm. Many people play video games and spend no time outside, thus they become innactive and unhealthy. Should video games be made illegal?

What is your position on government? Do you think the government should make it illegal for us to do anything wrong at all, or do you think we should be allowed to make our own mistakes as long as we don't innocent people?

If I had a son and he started smoking cigarettes, I would do anything in my power to stop him from smoking them. I don't want the government to take MY responsibility to stop him.

People like you are feeding the government and making the government more powerful. People like you are saying &quotrotect the children", and placing them in schools built like prisons.

We want to protect our kids, so let's put them in a school designed like a prison! Yay!

Do you want the government to protect kids by ruining their lives?

But I digress, it would be most ignorant to give the government the power to ban all drugs.

Do I think certain drugs should remain illegal? Of course. It's impossible to use drugs such as heroin and meth responsibly. They should remain illegal.

Now don't get me all wrong here, please note that my position on regarding government is not established: I just said that if it had any control on drugs, it could be a good way to have more money in the system. I didn't mean to say that we should give government the power to BAN drugs.
And yes, I totally believe that children should make their mistakes, don't go saying ''eople like you'' without knowing me please...The point is that even though children have to make their decisions to learn, I think we should not force these mistakes on them. Legalizing drugs means legitimating its use without implying a judgemental mistake: it becomes okay to consume drugs legally speaking. If drugs aren't legalized then it will be a mistake and not just an issue to be dealt by parents alone. It's not about who get's the responsibility to decide what is good and bad, it's just that if it's legal, it won't have the same impact as a mistake. It will be taken more lightly by kids, and they will take parents less seriously.
If people can use drugs responsibly then I guess it is okay, but then again in what measure can a drug be used so, given the fact that it cloggs judgement. My ignorance may be tied with the fact that I never did any drugs and will never do...If drugs are to be legalized, they should most certainly be as restricted as alcool, if not more.
I guess all is never black and white...Now that was some venting at me...
I'm sorry if I was misunderstood: I presented my points regarding the economic impact the government could have. My opinion is this: even if some drugs are to be legalized, I'm against the consummation of any of it. My perspective is that if it is legalized we will have troubles to make pass the use of a drug as a mistakes to children, thus, I think that if drugs should be legalized, they should be as restricted as alcool, if not more.
