Have they finally found Noah's Ark?

"A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical Christians claim to have uncovered remnants of Noah's Ark on its legendary mountain resting place in Turkey."

Here is a close-up of their find:

What do you think?

Gah, accidentally stopped short. If they were so much higher then the mountains then not only would it be windy, as it tends to be windy high up, causing waves. And if it was high enough to go over a mountain a safe distance we would have to say the highest mountain in the world would be far under, witch you can not climb without oxygen tanks or waiting days between altitudes. If the entire world is flooded, that makes it an ocean... I thought that would be apparent. He may have, but nothing on the boat suggest that it would not tip over. In fact I think just the elephants would send it to the bottom...And if they could not steer, then they would sink under a wave, crash into drift wood or other boats, and be virtually helpless.

Here's an interesting video on this very find.
Noahs Ark has been found... are you sure about that?

Thank you for finding that Mage. I couldn't have put it better myself. The claims made discovery article are not valid until truly tested like the video said.

Even going beyond that, the biblical description of the ark and what happened do not add up in reality. Adding up all the days they were on the boat would be just over 1 year. Show me a wooden boat built by one man to house all the mammals, reptiles, etc and have room for food? But that is just one example.

I also find it interesting that they claimed to carbon date this boat and it wAs 4800 years old. So, that would mean, all the dinosaurs were on that boat bc the dinosaurs are only 6000 years old, apparently.

One more thing that bugs me. Yes, the Jewish texts are very old, but not quite as old as the Babylonian texts from that same region. I have been looking for hours to find mention if this flood.

I wish the black antiqueties market would release some things to the public...

and your religion even goes against evolution further nulling this point.

Hey wow, stop pointing fingers! I just decided to be the one guy to throw some answers out there, and all of the sudden I become a christan? Quite wrong my freind. I simplie showed a few things that I have seen christsians answer to the topic. Nothing else. I'm not an atheist, not a christian, i'm on the fence. Neither show me any thing great, so I ignore both.

Anyways,

First, you did not cover the problem of decomposition

I never said it wouldn't decompose? After the purpose of it carrying noah, and the animals, it wouldn't matter if the boat decomposed. And honestly, if they left it on top of a moutnain, they wouldn't need it to not decompose anyways.

What I meant by "group" (sorry for not being clear..er? here) was lets say you take all the diffrent species of turtles, and just take one species of turtles. This would be alot less animals would it not? And how would it not provide the genetic diversity we have today?

If dinnasours only died out about 6000 years ago, at which point the whole world was covered by dust, and evvery living thing died, why couldn't it happen? ( I think I have my times messed up horribly. IF this is the case, don't flip out. I'm just being the one guy to argue the other side.)

Because that (among many other things) would mean humans and dinos coexisted. I'm no paeleontologist, but anyone who's seen Jurrassic Park will know that if we had to contend with raptors and the T-rex for scarce resources with stone age technology, we would be ridiculously extinct. Oh and whatever the thing that did kill the dinos would have killed us to (recent evidence suggests massive metoer btw).

If your not claiming a belief in a deity your an atheist. But that's a topic for another thread.

What I meant by "group" (sorry for not being clear..er? here) was lets say you take all the diffrent species of turtles, and just take one species of turtles.

The next grouping of species would be the Genus. This is harder to work out how many there are but estimates can range in the thousands. Still far to many animals of Noah's Ark when you figure some are 1000+ x2 or in some cases x7.

And how would it not provide the genetic diversity we have today?

A species dropped to such a low number it has to inbreed results in low genetic diversity. A prime example of this effect is with the Cheetah. Now dropping a species down to only two of each you will have no genetic diversity in that species. For the human race being just down to 8 people previously starting from two we could do heart transplants and skin graphs without worry of rejection. Also a virus (Noah and his family would have had to have every parasite and virus known another problem with this story) that would kill one person would be fatal everyone with no genetic immunity.

If dinnasours only died out about 6000 years ago, at which point the whole world was covered by dust, and evvery living thing died, why couldn't it happen?

I have no idea what your talking about here.

So it was a hoax. Case closed.

S-so I won't invent anti-gravity deep fryers?

Dammit, just . . . dammit.

Anyway, I'm not surprised. Hoaxes aren't exactly uncommon when dealing with potential discoveries as big as Noah's Ark.

You know, it could be a Boat, not Noah's Ark. Just some random boat

Wow a hoax...I'm so surprised...no really, see my shocked face --> :|

"My problem is that, in the end, proper analysis may show this to be a hoax and negatively reflect how gullible Christians can be."

I would say it honestly shows rather then negatively shows.

A lot of Christians are confused because they thought the ark was found two years ago, or two years before that. These things seem to come up every two years or so."

Isn't it kind of hard to find something that doesn't exist?

It's ridiculous what people believe these days and the best source the internetz.

Heh, also the cross and splinters of it being sold everywhere.

Yes it is. Though like I said I can see it as plausible that the story is based on a real event. A large local flood at the time could have easily seemed like the whole world was flooding to the effected people and the story could have become embellished further over time as it was told and retold.

"Peter that fish gets bigger every time you tell that story."-Family Guy

"Noah that flood gets bigger every time you tell that story" And it does to. Some evangelicals claim the flood waters had even shot up and hit the moon and Mars.
