I have noticed that some of the new games that are pretty good are getting rated 7's or 6's. fujitsu defender is hard to get used to but when you do its fun and unique! It is one of, and it might be the best tower defense game I've played ever! Assault Fleet is also a great game! It is currently at a 6.7, and i know from experience, once a game is rated it influences the other peoples rating. If a game is at a 6 and you think it deserves a 7 or 7.5, you would probably rate it a 7 because its closer to 6 and you want to agree with others. this isnt entirely true, but i think maybe if you do have an account you shouldnt be able to see the rating until you rate it. if you dont have an account or your not logged in you shouldnt because you cant rate :P

Some people don't rate the game (immidiatly yet). The rating system is there to tell other people whether a game in generally liked or not. Your suggestion pretty much stops this from working, as people don't know the rating and don't know whether a game is good. People often play games rated high but since they don't know the rating untill they rate it themselves, it will result in random rating or just simply not playing the games as often. I prefer to know what I can expect of a game before I start playing it. If the rating is hidden to me, and I often rate a second or third time I play a game, I don't know whether the game is good or not. And I often skip new games if they're rated low or medium. if the rating will be hidden, I will miss some of the greater games simply because the image of the game isn't appealing.

Your argument is fully true though, but this way you won't be able to solve it. The rating would only become worse. out of curiosity, people will rate randomly.

Healmeal, you don't know that. Look at Sonny. The majority of their ratings were mainly from bandwagoning raters that liked the first series so they rated the sequel high too. Look at the low-rated games. People see that rating and they are like "eww, that's a bad game, ima rate it bad too or not play it at all!". With 'hidden' ratings until you yourself rate it, you will rate the game based on your own opinions or if you spam to get points like how it's usually done lol

You do make a point there. People, including me, get spoiled because of the ratings. I let other peoples filter the bad games for me. But still, it turns the rating system rather pointless.
It does save me time ( since I pretty much have little spare time, and often go to armorgames for like 5-10 mins at max.) but the ratings aren't too fair at the moment.

The only problem is that...games are put in specific order by rating, they are put on the popular page by their 'opularity' which could mean rating, and...well, not seeing a rating on a game is basically telling you to rate it. That could go in both ways; playing the game, but also encouraging the user to rate the game in a specific manner.

I would say that poeple are too upset about ratings, just forget it, I don't give a **** about games rathings, poeple can rate what ever they want and Im rating 10/10 if I like game, what ever current rate it has, I play all new games that came out, soo...I wouldn't mind if rating is removed

The opposite is true. I rate higher than the game deserves when it already has a rating lower than it deserves.

Also, I rate games up more than 90% of the time. I'm easier to please, perhaps.

The only problem I have with the draconian ratings given by users here, is that it may turn people off playing games that are actually good.

Very true. The first Palisade Guardian was a good game, and the second Palisade Guardian is ranked 8/10, when I think it deserves a 6.5/10. That's just me.
