If you were to use one switch, and then open the box; the lit bulb is controled by the switch you used. You wont know which of the other two switches controls which of the two other bulbs.

Light bulbs get hot when you leave it on for a while so you could press one switch and wait a bit for the bulb to get hot, then turn it off and press a different switch before opening the box. The hot bulb is controlled by the first switch, the lit bulb is controlled by the second switch. The cool bulb is controlled by the switch you didnt press.
