A sad newsflash reached my mailbox Sunday... Ronald James Padavona, better known as Ronny James Dio, the "Godfather of Metal" and the creator/promoter of the world wide known "Devil's Horns" or 'Metal Salute', a sign we all know and cherish... died at the age of 67, after a short one year fight against stomach cancer...

This shocking, but somehow anticipated upon, news has struck me like a bolt of lightning, since the "Godfather of Metal" truly was a one of a kind performer and his passing weighs heavy on the Metal and Rock loving community...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I opened up this thread for the Metal and Rock fans in the AG community to have a place to vent their thoughts about this remarcable personality and groundlayers of the Metal and Rock music foundation, upon which our present music is built over the years...

May you Rest In Piece Ronny!

A final salute to a METAL GOD!! \\,,//_ _\\,,//

We all go someday. At least I still have Heaven and Hell to listen to.

Still quite sad.

You're not helping. Show some respect for a passed legend, if you could.

Sad that I never got around to watch him perform Live on stage... that is something only left in my dreams...

Fact: did you know that DIO sang the lyrics to Roger Glover's "Love Is All"?!?! 0_o

Only found out when I visited Wikipedia... strange, but now I definitely hear his voice!

Even though it's completely different from Metal, it's an odd but nice way to remember him by... =)

That has little to do with paying respects to RJD, please stay on-topic.

On a related note, here's an article I read earlier today that made me mad.

Seriously, why can't these extremists just leave everybody else alone they are a bad example for Christians (which I am) and Catholics alike. Oh well, so much for "tolerance and understanding", right?!

Chaotix, those people disgust me.

They go from soldiers to people that millions idolize? That's some effed up shit.

Glad that they're going to burn in hell themselves.

That still doesn't give them the right to openly protest a man and his life's work at his memorial service, though!

Of all the religions I've ever known, that's the closest one I've been associated with. -.-

They pervert it. It's not because they are baptist. They aren't even baptist. They're a bunch of turncoat anti Americans. They should be hanged for what they do.

He was one of the best and most powerful heavy metal singers. Requiescat in pace.

I read the sickening article that warned for the Baptist church members that were planning to disrupt the funeral, but I'm glad that they were quietly and very quickly removed from the funeral grounds!

The man has a final resting place now... :/

He will be forever in my thoughts as the true "Godfather of Metal"! Shame that I didn't get to see him perform live...
