Moopie!

Time travel is impossible because to do this you would need to rewind the universe, and thats not TT thats literally reversing every atom, particle and space between atoms and GOD knows what else to a previous state. Everything exists at once and it is in a constant forward motion. Time is not a line, it is mearly a measurment of point A to B, you cant go back to A because it is, in fact now point C. So even reversing everything would still only take you forward.

Thats my view anyway. What yall gonna do bout that!

Actually, scientists agree that time travel could be possible. Steven Hawking just had a book published on the subject in fact. Time is like a fabric, it can be torn, ripped, folded, whatever. Think of black holes, time comes to a standstill in them.

Indeed time travel is entirely possible. We have little understanding of time itself so let's not rule anything out just yet.

I disagree strongly. If time could be ripped in such a way then you can guarantee we would have had people coming back already.

The only explanation would be that, in going back to the past you would in fact be, going into the future.

Im at Point B having just come from point A. I walk back to where A was which is now no longer A, but C. It occupies the same space but it is not point A. The universe has moved on, weather you like it or not.

But I would agree SPACE is like fabric. Saying time is mallable is like saying a 1cm measument is changeable. As soon as you change it, it is no longer 1cm. You cant go BACK in distance, you just go forward back the way you came.

Im also going to bed.

If we knew that, there would be no argument now would there?

Time and distance are two completely different things.

Both are a measurment of something and in itself are not actually definable i.e. it needs something to measure to be able to define a distance or a time taken. So my meaning stands. You cant go back in distance, mearly back the way you came. Which is, in essence, going forwards. You cant go back in time, only forwards.

Nice article.

some scientists have suggested that we inhabit a universe in which there are an infinite number of parallel worlds. So if you go back to the past and kill your grandmother, then you set off another parallel world in which you are not part of the future.

This is still not the past. Its another future.

Physicist Steven Hawking has suggested that it is not possible to go back in time because you could kill your own grandmother before your mother or father were born and so make it impossible for you to be born.

Which means that you would never exist and so it would be impossible for you to go back and kill your decendants in the first place.

Time travel is not possible. Existance is everything at once, it is the now. Some might call that state GOD, I would call it time for bed.

Unless you don't kill your grandmother.... Which seems like something no-one would do anyway....

Time travel is indeed possible, however Stephen Hawking himself said in his new documentary that time travel to the past is impossible.

Time travel backward is possible, just incredibly stupid. If you could keep the radioactive feedback down for a few seconds, you could do it. Of course, you would probably die in the process as the feedback would go nuclear and kill you.

Possible, just not smart. You wouldn't survive. You get there, and the universe wouldn't like that at all.

To the future is very possible. It's called freeze yourself. Have fun.

So are we just making stuff up now? You say these things like you know how to time travel...

Ohh, I like this subject.

I don't think time travel would at all be possible in our life time, maybe in a million years, or when we learn to use our brains full capacity, I don't believe it to be top priority research at this moment in time. I wouldn't mess with it though, it's probably a fragile subject, I mean, you see how people reacted to the LHC, everyone was scared something would happen.. It'd be exactly the same with time travel, and even if time travel became possible, it'd never be commercial, and I doubt it'd even be revealed to the public in the first place in fear of people's reaction to it.

So maybe it will be possible, but we'll never know anyway!
