For one, molecular geneticists have been transferring DNA in between cells for quite some time now through processes like transformation. We've mapped genomes and found what parts of DNA are noncoding. We've studied the interaction between biology, chemistry, and physics.

Copying is simply cloning though, you were talking about changing the DNA. If we don't know where conscious thought comes from we might mess it up while changing the DNA.
Yes, now I get what your saying. It would be trial and error. Messing up something that damaged the brain may actually be beneficial, as we will know what DNA forms the brain thus may one day be able to repair nerve DNA.

The people in Afghanistan have helpers, and we could do a blood test to see if the people were vaccinated for disease. Then we could torture them, bribe them, the standard to find out were the people are. You can't live in a whole forever without someone supplying food and water.

They don't care. We've been trying to annihilate terrorists for years, and no matter how hard we try, we fail. It's a lost cause. Death is their only, whether they themselves live or die is irrelevant.
